Any sort of exercise does it for me. Whether it's hitting the gym or going for a long walk or bike ride. I can almost feel the stress melting away sometimes.

Swimming.

There's something therapeutic about it. With running or just about any other exercise, you're subject to other sights and sounds around you. But in the water it's just silence (save for some splash sounds) and following a black line up and down a pool.

You can retreat into your own world and get great exercise at the same time.

Not a big fan of stress, so I don't have it.

Sometimes it's just as simple as cranking a great song and getting totally lost in it. That's usually how I'll try to unwind on the way home from work.

But seriously folks. Going for a walk, or recently I discovered there's a hiking trail 5 minutes down the street from me. I just put on the ipod and starts strolling (or hiking)[/quote]

Do you beat her or do her?
:D

Honestly, this sounds totally hick of me, but I get on my riding mower, put on the iPod and mow the back yard for a couple hours.

jamf has the right idea...

I'm fortunate enough that my folks rent a very small place on the Delaware Seashore 2.5 blocks from the beach from May 15 to September 15 (might be 300 square feet but who cares, all you do is shower and sleep there), so if I'm ever stressed out enough, I'll take Friday off, hop in the car Thursday night and head on down. Grab a beer at my favorite watering hole, and then hit the beach the next day. Read your favorite book or periodical, grab some rays and some waves. To me, there's nothing better. Very easy way to just get away from the grind of the week.

If I can't make the beach, I call a few buddies and grab a tee time. While golf stresses some out, it's very relaxing to me. I think it has to do with the fact that I know i'm not good, so I don't expect much from myself. I'm probably between an 18-20 handicap (was a 12 while playing in high school), so I just go out and have fun. If I break 90, it's a good day. If I shoot triple digits, I chalk it up to the beer.

Life's just too short to be stressed out all the time. I've seen too many people break down because of stress, and I always tell myself that it could always be worse.

It's only hick if you take your shirt off and wear a pair of cutoff denim shorts with work boots.

The hickest thing would be getting a DWI while riding one. It happens.

HA. I typically wear this pair of camo shorts I have that I do yard work in and drink a PBR in my Redskins coozie.

Lady Brave, I have indeed heard of that, but I hear you have to be driving on the actual road to get one. If I'm THAT drunk to be rolling down the highway, I deserve it!
