Re: Right Tackle
Yep. The only reason Wade didn't replace Jansen yesterday was because Wade was inactive, partly because of the sore shoulder, but mainly because the Skins didn't think they'd need him. The shoulder thing is minor, and now that the Skins know they'll need him, he'll be the starter.
There's no way Stephon Heyer could ever be considered a better choice at RT than Todd Wade. RT is exactly where Wade belongs - and to be truthful - I see no downgrade going from Jansen to Wade. It's just our T depth is thin now. Heyer is an adequate backup, but I don't want him starting. Did we notice how absent Cooley was yesterday? That's because he was helping Heyer in pass protection. We need him running routes, so we need Wade to hold his own. |

Ahhh, someone noticed that???? Hehehe, I know it all! |

Re: Right Tackle
Heyer was good but he did get pushed back pretty bad a few times and Dierdorf remarked that he was playing too high on Taylor. If Wade is healthy he should be in there.
Maybe and maybe not. Heyer has a lot to learn but he has alot to work with. Some of th OL men we have drafted lately you can't say that about. He was playing against a pro bowl type player so it is a big step to having a young line for seasons to come. Pluse D line coach can work on that being too high and other things!!!

Re: Right Tackle
So who's the best tackle to sign after Jansen goes on IR? Or are we just going to resign Calvin Armstrong?

Re: Right Tackle
Yeah, I thought for sure Todd Wade would be in there.
I guess it's a good sign. Maybe Stephon Heyer will be the next Joe Jacoby --undrafted free agent signee -- and a fixture for years to come.
The only reason Heyer went in there instead of Wade is b/c Wade was on the inactive list (anyone know why btw??). Heyer is still a project, but Buges is great at getting max value out of a player. I think he and Wade can both help. Make them fight it out in practice and see what happens going forward... Thank god we got Kendall, otherwise we'd be up shit's creek with no paddle. It should also be noted that a major reason Yoder saw a lot of time and Cooley only caught one ball is b/c we had to keep them on the line to help Heyer handle Taylor/outside pass rush... |

Re: Right Tackle
I don't think it will be Heyer, but after listening to the Gibbs press confrence, I am not sure. I think either way we have more depth than ever. They wont get another tackle it will be another guard. They already were carring to many tackles.

Re: Right Tackle
If you go by what Gibbs said in his press conference then I would definitely say that Heyer is starting, but you never know. I think since he did such a great job we should put him in there next week. If he really starts to slump we have the luxury of Todd Wade.

Re: Right Tackle
i think Wade will start if healthy - he did a good job last year when he went in -- however, Heyer held his own yesterday considering he had NEVER played right - i think time and development will turn Stephon into a fixture on that line
|
Re: Right Tackle
heyer all the way. he could probably be a starter for us next year at the same position.
|
Re: Right Tackle
Bugel told Channel 4 here in Washington earlier tonight that Wade would probably be the guy, but they hadn't discussed it as a staff.

Re: Right Tackle
i mean sure wade has the Exp. but he sucks. he was terrible in miami, and houston. i dont think he had a rebirth.
heyer is good, smart and has TREMENDOUS upside an potential. he shut down taylor, even if he wasnt 100%. he is still one of the best at 85-90%. plus clinton portis, campbell, an the rest of the line have faith in him. CP seem to be happy to have him in over wade in his presser. ADV - heyer |
