They are not oldies, it's just older music.

I mean, think about it. 20 years ago, N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton was making noise. Is that an oldie? In your terms, it would be to a kid currently in high school, since it came out before they were born (Ice Cube - Check Yo Self was on Sirius Faction, hence the NWA reference).

Oldies is a genre of music, not anything made before one's birth.

It's not really up for debate though, "Oldies" is a specific type of music, like Country or Heavy Metal.

If you want to "define" Dolly Parton as "death metal", you could, just like you could try to "define" songs as Oldies...but you'd be just as wrong as with the Death Dolly.

I think I'll go hop in my Ford Firebird and get some lunch. It's not really a Firebird, I'm just defining it that way. :cheeky-sm
