Thank you Coach Gibbs for:
-Not once, but twice saving this franchise from mediocrity.
- John Riggins, 70 Chip moment is SB XVII.
- Doug Williams 2nd Qtr of SB XXII
- 1991 Skins dominant season and SB XXVI
- Darrell Green's body slam of Jerry Rice in the 1992 playoffs
- Two miraculous drives to the playoffs in the last three years.
- Being able to have 3 Superbowl pictures on my walls
- Being able to trash talk about 8 Broncos fans out the room during SB XXII
- Being able to argue the 1991 Skins were the best ever.
- Being the guiding hand of faith, composure and comfort during the difficult time of Sean Taylor's death.
- Cultivating and showing the world the talents of: Sean Taylor, Laron Landry, Chris Cooley, Jason Campbell, Darrell Green, Art Monk, Joe Jacoby, Russ Grimm, Charles Mann, Neal Olkewicz, Joe Theisman, John Riggins, Dexter Manley, Jeff Bostic, Gary Clark, Earnest Byner, Mark May, Joe Bugel, Richie Pettibone and so many others.
- For 18+ hour days and countless hours away from your family so the Redskins could be successful.
- For helping Dan Snyder grow as an owner and person.
- For "fighting your guts out" every day not only to win on the field but to make the lives of everyone around you better.
- For being an inspiration for all of us to make the choice to do the right things, the right way rather than the quick and easy way.
-For bringing honor, respectablity and class to the Redskins now and always. You will always be the face of the Redskins.
Thank you for all these things and bringing enjoyment and passion to all true Redskins fans' hearts. May God Bless you and your family as you move forward to the next phase of your life.

All the best to Joe & his family & much gratitude for the years of greatness in the first go round, plus the years of excitement & hope that he brought in his second stint.

This will undoubtably be talked about this weekend by those paid to do so, but I feel Gibbs' second stint here was a sucess & added to his legacy. He got us in the playoffs with some exciting wins & has left the team in good shape. Can't ask for anything more from him, may he enjoy retirement.

Thank you so much Coach Gibbs, as I realized this morning that you were the primary coach of the Redskins for more than half of my life. I love the person you are and the Hall of Fame coach that you are. You are the best leader that I have ever seen, and as a swim coach today I take a lot of the lessons that you personified. I know that you are going to serve as an advisor to the Redskins and are a true Redskin for life. I wish we had a few more years with you as our head coach, but I realize that you are true to your word and that your family needs you too. You are apart of our family forever. I know that you are going to be an advisor to the team and we are lucky for that. I love you and your family and the Redskins for life!!!!! :)

Thanks Joe for coming back and showing a new generation of Redskins fans what it means to be a true Redskin. Although we didn't make it back to the Super Bowl you did bring respectability back to this franchise. In my eyes you will always be the best coach and man to ever walk the sidelines. We love you for the man you are and everything you’ve done for our team. I think I speak for the mast majority of Redskins fans when I say we will always have you in our hearts. HTTR!
I echo these sentiments exactly. I love the man. He's a great role model not only for sports but for life.

I gotta say though, I'm pretty annoyed today. He stirred up a QB controversy yesterday then unexpectedly quit today after repeatedly telling everyone he intended to honor the full terms of his contract. I'll get over it, but I'm a little pissed right now.
Maybe Darrell Green can help you work through the funk...

Thanks for the memories, Joe. Thanks for bringing this franchise back to some degree of respectability, instead of leaving it in about as poor condition as it can be, and mostly, thanks for guiding this team through this troubling season.

Re: Thank you to Joe Gibbs

I didn't really get to enjoy Gibbs v1.0 and I wont' be able to say I got to see Gibbs v2.0 go to the Bowl. But I do have to say thanks for the fact that this team is a hell of a lot better than it was when he first came back.

Good job Joe. Shame we couldn't see more.

We should all use a Joe Gibbs avatar for the rest of the week in his honor

Thanks for all your hard work coach. And thanks for coming back to do it all again even though you knew what it would be like. Thanks for the joy you gave us on all those Sundays.

I feel like Bob friggin Hope here. How about that Angie Dickinson, she's something huh?
