Re: How bout this trade...
For those of you who believe that Jansen may not be worth much in a trade - - probably closer to true than false unless he does a new contract with his new team as part of the deal - - can you explain to me how playing Heyer makes the Redskins a better team?
Heyer was mediocre at the very best. He had help on most plays where the defense was expected to bring a big rush on the QB. Heyer MIGHT develop and become a journeyman some day - - or maybe you've already seen him at his best. He's not someone to build your future OL around. |
Re: How bout this trade...
First of all, Jansen isn't "always getting injured." He had two fluke, severe injuries ending his '04 and '07 seasons. Aside from that he's only missed 1, that's right 1 start his entire career. And he never missed a game his at Michigan. That said, he turns 32 this year, and he's gonna have to restructure to stay a Redskin.
And there's no way the Bears would give up a legit #1 WR and a DE for a 32 year old lineman coming off a season ending injury. |
Just a thought. We are going to be in Cap hell this year obviously so...how bout giving Stephan Heyer the job at RT and trade away Jon Jansen who is always getting injured to relieve some cap. A possible trade would consist of the Redskins trading him to the Bears for WR Benard Berrian and DE Mark Anderson. The trade would fullfill two needs of ours..a tall speedy receiver and a good pass rushing DE. It would also suit the Bears seeing as they need help on the OL. It would then give us some cap room relief. What do you guys think? just a thought
I'd do it only if dynasty mode was turned off and we only play 3 minute quarters. |
Re: How bout this trade...
Sorry did not realize Berrian was a Free Agent. I'm not writing a column by merely a thread so therefor I didn't conduct much research on the topic. thank you
No big deal. This forum in general is aimed at "Knowledgeable" discussion so when we get retread threads or misinformed threads we often probably come off as jumping down the throats of the posters. Ulitmately though we just like to set records straight and help people understand what is factual. Newbies I think get a little put off by us but we mean no harm(mostly). Stick around long enough and you'll know we love every thoughtful and honest poster. |
Re: How bout this trade...
forget berrian...lets set our sights on Ocho Cinco..whats is it going to take to get him here?

I have been amazed at how much faith people have put in a undrafted guy who showed why in Seattle less than a month ago. Honestly, I will be very worried if we go into the '08 season with JJ the starter and Heyer the backup. It's another recipe for disaster. We need to draft (preferably) a stud at tackle who can compete with JJ as the starter and meanwhile lock Heyer in a weightroom for, say, 12 to 18 months. Seeing that kid get lambasted every down by Kearney was damn hard to watch (and left a bad memory after watching Kearney get completely shut down by GB's right tackle). |
Re: How bout this trade...
So you want to trade away our most veteran Redskin for very little cap relief. I think that it is safe to say that you just might be Vinny himself. DUMB IDEA!

Re: How bout this trade...
that is the craziest thing i have heard on this board in a long time. Jansen is NOT injury prone. He has had two freakish injury's which could happen to anyone at anytime. Other than that he isn't one of those guys that miss 4 or 5 games a season. He has been a rock on the right side missing only 1 game or so in his career. he has played injured when most would be sitting out. Torn calf muscle, broken thumbs, sprained knees, ankle sprains, the guy is a leader on the field and in the locker room. Bad move to get rid of him.

Re: How bout this trade...
Damn it's looking like a long offseason already.

Heyer played a hell of a lot better than Wade did all season, I know that's not saying a whole lot, but Wade looked terrible this year. I also think that Heyer will continue to develop and probably can become a pretty decent LT at some point. I think having be the third tackle would probably be the right call, though. I won't be upset if he wins the starting job going into next season. |
Re: How bout this trade...
I wouldnt mind jansen getting traded, but our biggest need is a DE, a WR is second but if we draft LJ from USC we can think about a receiver.
I'm sick of hearing we are in cap trouble, when we're not. I think we should draft a big ass WR. To bad we couldn't see Mix in action at some point this season before we draft one though
I hope Mix works with Campbell during the offseason. I really want to see what he can do. With his size, he would make an imposing slot receiver, allowing us to take better advantage of Randle El's speed outside. I too am in favor of drafting a big WR, just not in the 1st round.

Re: How bout this trade...
jansen has no trade value, the only way he will not be with the team is if he gets released.....i also would like a big reciever but only in the middle of the draft....i think we should see what mix can actually do, he has chemistry with JC, it cant be any less productive than our recievers were this season

Re: How bout this trade...
Ok, here is my trade. We trade Ladell Betts, Brandon Loydd, and our first round draft pick to the Detroit Lions for Roy Williams and their 2nd and 4th round picks. Could it happen and would it make sense? It does provide more cap relief than just releasing Loydd.

i would do that if we were smart with those 2 2nd round picks......could get some great value without the high cost |
