Re: The Official Thank You G-Will and Al Saunders thread
I wish GW the best. I'll always keep an eye on his career. Hopefully he'll get another crack at being a HC, if not he's still a helluva DC. I wish things could have worked out here but it wasn't meant to be.

Re: The Official Thank You G-Will and Al Saunders thread
Great thread. Knowing that those guys will probably never read forums, I wish there was some way to let them know the fans really appreciated their work and thought they got a raw deal (well, at least Double G, I think there's sufficient disagreement about Al).
I'll be a big fan of Double G from here on out. If he does end up a Jacksonville, I guess I've got an AFC team to root for. |
I'll always be a GW fan b/c of the way he gets a D to play together. He gets the most out of the talent he has. I'm kinda scared what we might see next year w/out him here.
AS deserved better than this. I'm not saying that he should stay, as i think that is the decision of the new hc, but AS is a top 3 offensive coord in the league. I know we're all fans here and all but i've got to let it be known to those of you calling for AS head...our offense is not loaded w/ talent...it's got some talent but it's not as loaded w/ talent as alot of us think. AS needed more talent.
I agree, but the main things that separated his KC O & here are the o lines (awesome unit in KC when he was there) & qb. Green was a vet while JC was just getting his feet wet. In addition to needing more talent, he also needed 1) luck, our o line was a mess this year due to dock leaving & injuries on the right side, and 2) full confidence of the head coach; Gibbs & he didn't seem to gell their philosophies as much as JG had hoped. You have to think this O would be so much better next year if AS were to stay & JC matures. Overall, I will miss both GW & AS, hate to see them go. Both of them deserve better & it's a real shame they couldn't be here for another year. |
Re: The Official Thank You G-Will and Al Saunders thread
I'll thank GW for his great job here, Al never really had a chance to shine and I even think it's a good thing to let him go while I think it's a mistake to release Williams after what he has accomplished this year with our D.
Al never really got it going here
That's because he wasn't granted the appropriate amount of time. Why do so many of our fans think success happens overnight? Our offense was rolling over the last 5 games of the season when our receivers finally got healthy and were able to practice during the week, and also with a QB that had studied it for years. Interestingly, our offense was ranked 13th in 2006 and 7th in 2007. I'm convinced we would have been a top 5 offense next year had we kept him. Ce la vie. Thanks Al and Gregg for the outstanding job you guys did. |

So I wonder who gets the job of moving AS 700 page play book. |

When Collins came in I think that was as close as Gibbs ever got to turning AS loose. |

To be honest the whole Gibbs and AS thing just did not work. Our O went from 13th in 2006 to 15th in 2007 while AS was here. |

It didnt work because Gibbs wouldnt let it work. He never trusted AS to run the O the way it should have been run. |

Well I'm not a 100% sure that was the entire problem but I do know it was not working. |
