Do not compare Mike Westbrook to Joey Porter, there is a huge difference Mike didn't have any class as a person or a player. Comparing stats is one thing, but we have seen guys revive their careers with a location change...aka, Santana Moss
I didnt say their character.. i compared their size, and stats..and We didnt get Santana Moss at 30 years old right??

I'm not saying we got him at 30, but his career was looking like it was going to end due to injuries and lack luster performance.

I didn't say you were talking character, I am talking character when it comes to Westbrook, that was my point as to why there is a difference between them.

Re: Jerry Porter? Better, cheaper, option at WR...

I guess I like the idea simply because he's a big guy, but he's not a very good receiver. He looked great back when he was a #3 behind Rice and Brown and he hasn't shown me much since that time. I'm not sure I'm in favor of bringing him in, he's not a significant upgrade over anyone we have on our roster (I mean starting). I guess he could move Randle El into the slot, but then Randle El would be starting again by week 6 when Santana gets hurt.

I think this team really needs to get an elite receiver, be it through the draft or whatever. I do agree that giving up a #1 for Chad is too much, but there has to be a cheaper route. If not, I'd rather spend the 2nd round pick on a wide out.

Re: Jerry Porter? Better, cheaper, option at WR...

I say that Javon Walker is a better option if he becomes available, though the injury bug concerns me. However I think that he can give us one or two good years as well as take the chance to use the draft to acquire young talent. Porter has never gotten over a 1,000 yards in a season, though Randy Moss could barely get a 1,000 yard season playing for the Raiders so I wouldn't be oppopsed to bringing him in either.

In my opinion Porter is the more solid choice but Walker has a higher upside and the potential to be the type of elite WR that DS is trying to bring to Redskin Park. Its also worth noting that both have experience in the WCO.
West Coast Brandon Lloyd

Seriously though, he's got the talent but will his attitude do a 180 outside of Oakland?
Perfect description of him.

For those afraid of Chad Johnson's antics, Porter is a true cancer.

Have any of you guys heard about the Skins unloading Lloyd and ARE this offseason?

Reasoning: Randle El had a career-high 51 receptions last season, but the Redskins need a big receiver as they switch to the West Coast offense, and Santana Moss isn't going anywhere. There already has been talk of them trading for Johnson, and Randle El is taking up a good chunk of the salary cap.

I don't see it happening. His cap hit would be about $7M. We need that room to cut Lloyd.

I don't see that happening either. Plus, ARE contributed very positively for us this past season. Lloyd, on the other hand, needs to be shipped out as soon as possible.

we have WRs. Jason Campbell needs TIME for them to get open. We need an OL!!!!

The Redskins need a #1 WR...I don't see Porter as any better then what we already have. He's okay for depth but he doesn't solve the need. I think Roy Williams from Detroit is the player they need if he becomes available.

Personally, I'd rather be talking about the possibility of us getting Larry Fitzgerald (sp?). I think he is a better upgrade at wide-out then all of the above mentioned.

I'm surprised we're talking about a guy who was a bad seed on the Raiders!

If this guy was considered a disease on the most disease-infested team in the league (with an owner who the Boy looks up to) then why would anyone think it is a good idea to bring him in here?

We might as well re-sign Lloyd to an extended contract.

Of all the WRs discussed so far, Fitzgerald is far and away the one I prefer. I don't like Chad Johnson's personality (sorry, Daseal), Jerry Porter's age and lack of production, and Javon Walker's injuries and malcontent. Roy Williams would be a close #2 to Fitzgerald.

I'd much rather overpay for Fitzgerald than any of the others. He is a big-time receiver who would complement Santana Moss very well, and would allow ARE to slide to the slot, where he could be deadly.

Is Fitzgerald going to be available, and why in the hell would the Cardinals let him go or trade him???

There have been rumors off and on that have indicated that the Cardinals may not be able to afford him, or that they just don't want to pay him.
