Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
The latest reports are that McCintosh will be ready for camp. I honestly don't see were Briggs brings anything off the edge and I also believe he is better in Chi-town because off Urlacher. But Blache should be a good judge if Briggs is a good fit or not.

Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
Yes, that is just what we need. More FAs in long term deals. Shelf life of most of these guys is 5-8 years, tops. We need to build with young, hungry talent from the draft. As long as someone other than DS is in charge of talent eval and selection.

Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
don't waste big money on LBs when slightly lesser talent is available cheaply.
briggs would be nice, but not over a stud WR or DE and that's where i rather put the money, if possible. either way, when you change staffs like we just have, the first year back probably isn't going to be a great run into the playoffs, so it might be better to wait a year, give the cap some room and see how well the guys we have are playing in december. I mean, if a great deal comes up, that's one thing, but overspending when we're just not in a (historically) good position to make the playoffs, well, that'd just hurt us even more down the road, especially when we're talking about guys that don't really address an immediate need. |
Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
Agreed, stay with the younger guys with more upside. Stop overpaying DS

Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
I am not entirely opposed to the idea of bringing Briggs here for the right price. As for Samuel, I think the draft has several good DBs that the need for him really isn't there. Especially not at the high price he'd command.
I completely agree. I would pay for Briggs, but not for Samuel, especially after that huge contract the Nate Clements got in SF. Samuel will no doubt look for something better than the $80 mill that Nate got. |
Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
I'm on board with Briggs now. I wasn't sold last year but now with the way our LBs look I can justify going after him.

Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
They would both make us better. Samuels would make us MUCH better.

Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
i gotta say i really dont want us to sign one big name this offseason. I want us to draft our depth so bad. when looking at the future i guess briggs could be the replacement for washington and samuel for springs. I also look at HB Blades as our future middle linebacker so I want players that are going to listen to him. like players younger then him who will look up to him. of course i dont play for the team so i have no idea how it would actually work out but thats the way i look at it, could be wrong

Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
i dont think we need briggs , theres alot other options avalible at lb in the free agent market who will be good enuff. but a.samuel im not oposed to ,he is a ball hawk who causes turn overs, which without sean taylor there isnt anyone that can do that in are secondary consitently.shawn springs can shut down a wr ,but isnt much for pics. plus he slowing down a little( rember talks about moving him to safty last year) an him and his big contract will be gone next year leaving a whole that a recovering carlos rodgers will not be able to fill. then draft a dlineman in the 1st rnd, and pick up some backups/starters in free agency at other pos. wr from seattle dj hacket ,also from seattle g f wolmack ,lb boss bailey det or v hobson from the jets and either a odm or t laboy both de from the titans. but if we dont get samuel then d florence from chargers and go after coery williams dt from packers if he doesnt get franchised soon.

Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
A Briggs signing would spell the end of the line--or the delayed departure, of Marcus Washington. We're probably not planning on going too far foward with a 28 year old, a 32year old, and a 33 year old at linebacker.

Did you watch the Seattle Playoff game at all? We do have Laron Landry who, I'm sorry, will be better then Sean Taylor in my opinion. |

Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
If we are not going to video tape the other teams signals and know the plays like the Patriots did, I don't want Asante Samuel. He is good player, but I don't believe that he is worth the money that he is asking for. Briggs seems like an impact player, but I don't know that I would necessarily want a player who is going to be a problem down the road about his money. Let's not forget the fact that he had an issue off the field with Drunk driving incident and then also filing a false police report.

Re: UFAs Briggs and Samuel
Given that two of our young defensive players, Rogers and McIntosh, are recovering from serious injuries, I was curious to get people's opinion on two big time unrestricted free agents: Lance Briggs and Asante Samuel. I know that Briggs is the most likely out of these two to come to Washington, but Samuel could be a nice addition to our defensive unit. I honestly think that had Samuel not gotten tagged last year by the Patriots, he would've come here.
Both want to much cha ching $$$$$$$, I feel there are better guys for less $$$$$$$ out there and in the draft. |
