IMO, I would be all over that with our 2nd round pick. I know that just about everyone on here would be up in arms, but who would we get in the 2nd round that could produce like Williams? If you put Williams in an offense that had a good QB, not an average one like Kitna, he would be a monster in the NFL...

What about Andre Davis of the texans? the guy was money for the texans and caught everything thrown his way,especially looked good on the deep ball,plus he's a great return man also,I think he's 6'1" or 6'2" 195 .He was in a contract year and the texans cant afford to pay him more than 3rd wr money

I don't think that many people would be up in arms. I think it would be pretty well received. Do we have good info that Williams is still on the block? I know that was the rumor a while ago, still valid?

Maybe the Hokie fans would be excited, but I'd say no one should pay Davis more than 3rd WR money ... since he is nothing more than a 3rd WR ...

I love the thought of getting this guy. Everyone is always concerned that we need a number one reciever. I think what we need is a possession reciever, and Johnson could be that guy. It would be hard for anyone to shine, with Bolden and Fitzgerald. I also think that the Redskins recievers are very underated. Its up to Jason Campbell to improve, for them to shine.

Seems like the Lions are engaging in a "tough negotiation stance." However the way I see it, the guys pretty much there for the taking especially with the price for elite WR's set at a 4th round pick. Second Round pick should be enough to "blow them away."

We need a WR we all agree, Roy Williams, D.J. Hackett or Bryant Johnson all have good height & excellent potential whoever cost the least take that one, we need the draft picks for DL & OL

I will 3rd that notion. Big names are just that, and not willing to play their role. Hackett will play his part and leave us draft picks for other needs because lets face it we have a few. I think lineman are a top priority as JC needs to get the ball to this stud receiving corps we are all playing fantasy football in our minds with. Not to mention too many big personalities will certainly throw our team into a tailspin with our less than experienced head coach.

Math is your friend:

Those 5 games extrapolated to a 16-game season, making the assumption he'd start for 16 games, that would translate into:

67 Catches, 672 Yards, 6.4 TDs (as the #2 WR on the team, after all, either Boldin or Fitz were on the field the whole time opposite Johnson).

That's a nice possession receiver and a big RZ target, given that Moss would still be your #1 and Randle-El would look real nice in the slot. And you'd end up paying Johnson like the #3 WR on our team (he'd make less than Moss & ARE).

Seems like the perfect thing for our WCO.

Anyone who thinks we're going to magically acquire a WR not named Chad Johnson or Randy Moss, and who will put up over 1000 yards for us is delusional. Bryant Johnson would fit in real well, especially for the money.

I think DJ Hackett is capable of very similar production and is probably a better fit given familiarity with Zorn. But Johnson is exactly the kind of guy we need.

Impact won't be huge, and the paycheck won't be huge.

It would have the following subtle impacts:[LIST][*]Give JC a big target aside from Cooley and Sellers in the RZ. We'd actually have a WR capable of running a fade, forcing DBs to respect that route in the red zone.[*]Reduce the burden on ARE, allowing him to move to the slot more, hopefully allowing him to find more space to run after the catch.[*]Give us the 3rd WR option that Lloyd was supposed to provide us.[*]Assuming we keep Caldwell, would actually give us a 4-WR package that's worth a darn.[*]Avoid the typical 3-year learning curve that comes with drafting a WR.[/LIST]Johnson or Hackett would do similar things for us, with a better learning curve with Hackett.

And did I mention that he (or Hackett) would add key depth for when Santana Moss will inevitably miss a few games.
