To whom? The Redskins media guide makes no mention of this.
not sure my memory is cloudy but i think Danny Wuerffel had one and Shane Matthews had the other for a bit. |
Re: Redskins Retired Numbers...
I do see the point, but exactly when do you reissue it? Next season? 5 years? There is a PR gamble that I frankly don't think is worth taking. Look at this site. How many people DON'T have ST tributes attached to them? I have to reiterate my point that from shirts to towels to helmet decals, 21 became the way everybody conveyed the remembrance.
BTW, where is the guy that said 7 & 9 were re-issued, I dying to know this!
Didn't Shane Matthews and Danny Wuerffel wear those numbers for a couple of weeks in the preseason? |

I think so, but I looked at images... Mathews was 6, and Danny was 17. |

Here you go Amarillo Globe-News: Pro & College Sports: Redskins' QB Wuerffel won't wear No. 7 05/14/02 |
Re: Redskins Retired Numbers...
I think Sean showed enough talent and heart as a player in the short career he had to have his number permanently retired...no one can ever fill his shoes or his jersey. He would have retired as one of the best safeties to ever play the game- I completely believe this.

But that hardly qualifies as having the numbers re-issued, the article was from May 2002, so they didn't even make it to camp with those numbers. Sounds like a dope (Spurrier) was set straight pretty quickly. |
Re: Redskins Retired Numbers...
Hey everybody I'm new here, and all that I have to say about this topic is that
I don't care if the #21 is retired or not but there will never be another Sean Taylor. |
Re: Redskins Retired Numbers...
deangelo hall would have to wear another # if he came here...
thoughts??? |
Re: Redskins Retired Numbers...
Sean didn't need a number to set himself apart from everyone else on the playing field. If they wore blank jerseys you would still know which one was him from the way he played. I say commit his NAME to the Redskins Ring of Honor, the greatest tribute you can give any Redskin.

Re: Redskins Retired Numbers...
yes I think it will be awhile before a player even attempts it

thoughts???
So you think that DeAngelo Hall is going to the Redskins? Why? And if he did go to the Redskins I highly doubt that he will get the #21. But don't worry Hall will not be in D.C. anytime soon... |
Re: Redskins Retired Numbers...
They Must Retire #21.
