Hey it could be worst, he could be sitting out b/c of contract dispute. While it is not a good way to start things out, worst things could happen.

Hopefully just a one time innocent mistake.

Wait a minute. The knock on him in the draft was that he was lazy and missed team meetings, I wish I could find the exact quote. Good to see that concern was completely off base. Yeah, we've all overslept, but this was what, his second day on the job? In the NFL? Maybe Tyler Ecker tripped the fuse to his clock/radio.

I oversleep all the time so I forgive him.

Come on, there is no rookie in the history of the league stupid enough to intentionally miss their first practice. My point being that it is safe to assume this was just a stupid foul up on Davis's part and not indicative of a lack of respect for hard work anything like that. If anything he has a chip on his shoulder now that should motivate him to work even harder.

I say trade him to Dallas!
Just kidding. His contract will suffer, perhaps not money, but there will be a stipulation about missing meetings, etc. Guaranteed! Hopefully he'll come around. Don't know about yall, but I'd never be late for 2nd or 3rd day of work. Not a big deal yet. We'll see if he shows up for 'voluntary' OTAs...

I don't know ... one of my first days on the job, and I oversleep? Being in the NFL would cause me to LOSE sleep.

Remember, the knock on this guy at USC was the he's not a hard worker, and didn't take his responsibilities seriously. So far, he's living up to his reputation.

Not good.

Man, this had better be an isolated incident. I have VERY LOW tolerance for irresponsibility.

I wasn't crazy about his selection to begin with, but was willing to give him
a chance. This doesn't give me warm fuzzies about the kid.

Davis needs to realize this isn't college and there is not guaranteed
starting or roster spot. There are a lot of guys will to take his spot.

We had a coworker of mine oversleep on his first day. New callsign: Sleepy, been with him for 2 years.

And pulled his groin in the process. Has that guy ever made it on the field?

I'll never forget the first time I booked a cruise vacation. I was sure that I set both my wife's and my alarm clocks right. Apparently I didn't, and we missed our 7:00 am flight. Spent the whole day at the airport panicking that we'd miss the boat. Finally got the last possible flight and made it to the ship literally 5 minutes before it set sail. Point is, that was incredibly important to me at the time and could have meant thousands of dollars lost to me. Everyone makes mistakes........That said, I've never overslept for a flight again because I double and triple check the alarm clocks and set our cell phone alarms too in case the power goes out. So, if this is a one-time incident, I understand. If he does it again, I would not accept ANY excuse.

He was still on west coast time. It was 4am on his clock.
I hope the person that said he has a reputation of missing meetings at USC was kidding. If so, this kids needs to grow up fast or he brings his mommy to camp to wake him and dress him.

At this point, it's a red flag - something to keep an eye on. If he's a boy scout from here on in then I've got no beef. But I'm definitely watching him.

He ought to take one thing to heart though: he's not going to make much money in this league if he's got to battle both the snooze button AND Chris Cooley. One is already daunting enough.

Thank you!! I remember Mike Mayock from NFL Network saying the reason Davis fell into the 2nd round was because of work habits and he was always late for team meetings. I'd be willing to bet that Davis is one of those guys who was good enough to get by without working hard. Kind of like Anthony Montgomery when he first got here. Well this kind of crap isn't going to fly in the NFL. Who the hell oversleeps and misses the whole practice?? What a dumb ass. I already don't like this guy or the draft pick.
