Re: Vinny Cerrato to host a mid-day radio show?

This is one of the most ridiculous complaints I've heard. What about all the coaches and players across the NFL (and every other sport) that are part of weekly radio shows? Should we complain about Zorn's press conferences too?

Plus we're not talking about his entire day or week. You don't think maybe, just maybe, he's got time outside of his radio show to work on the Redskins? This idea that he can't do his job or isn't doing his job because of this, or when he appears with Larry Michael on Redskin Radio, or when he eats dinner, or takes his dog for a walk is insane.
My thoughts too. I don't know but I'm guessing that NO other GMs in the league do this. I would think Vinny C should be pretty busy w/....hmmm...I don't know.....FOOTBALL!!!

This is pretty ridiculous. It's the middle of the season in the NFL and in college I would imagine there's plenty of other things to do other than host a radio show.

I'll name one...how about getting together a list of young, up and coming, diamonds in the rough, that could be coaching candidates in the future.

I think some, give VC some slack b/c he's employed by the skins and they're using their B&G colored glasses to see the glass half full. It's not half full w/ Vinny. He has a losing record here. That's about all that matters.

In the offseason, maybe. In season, no. Bad move by the Skins on this one.
I don't really see the utility of JLC running off at the mouth about how foolish a move it is, I think he would be better served to just state that VC will have a 2-hour show on 980 twice a week and leave it at that. As you say, the foolishness and profit-over-football mentality (or, perhaps more fairly, desire for maximum media exposure with a naive belief that it will not impact football operations) should just be readily apparent.

I'm not taking up for JLC but he's a beat reporter and gets paid to have some opinions. There are alot of people w/ negative opinions about our FO.

I just think it's odd. Do other GM's do it? Who cares what VC sais anyway b/c it's just FO speak generally. I don't really trust the guy based on a number of different reported situations over the last few years but that's not the point.

Hey, VC is actually ok to listen too on the radio. The point is...why? Is this now in the job description now of VP of football ops? Very odd.

JLC is just doing what he does best. Making something out of nothing.

I would LOVE to know who this NFL executive is that he always quotes in these negative stories.

Holding it on Mondays is peculiar too because if they have a performance like they did against the Giants Vinny would really hear about from fans.

Maybe this is Danny's way of filtering any intense negative fan reaction through Vinny. Looks like he'd like Vinny's name associated with any Redskin pratfalls instead of himself.

If he wants to filter he should just have good old Larry do an 8 hour show every Monday. He could spin a 45-0 loss into a lovefest...

I would be more concerned if it were during the offseason. Right now and through the season the rosters are fairly set, the scouts are at the college games, but after we win the Superbowl, he will need to be focused on next season and beyond.
Of course having never been a GM I am only speculating...

i don't really like it, and i think vinny is terrible on TV and on air, so i'm not sure why anyone would even think this is a good idea, but whatever.

Jason LaConfora is like the fat kid who wanted to play football but could never make the cut. Instead, he writes with a chip on his shoulder. How about when he was on comcast (TV) out at redskins park before preseason with a Boston Redsox hat on? This guy has the personality of a sponge and clearly has other agendas.

Re: Vinny Cerrato to host a mid-day radio show?

It is some classic JLC anti FO propaganda, but I have to think that launching this in the midst of the season is, at best odd timing and I've got to think he'd have better, more important things to do than talk to radio callers for 4 hrs a week. It just seems a little out there.

Re: Vinny Cerrato to host a mid-day radio show?

It's dangerous from a PR standpoint. If he is answering calls from fans (not sure this is the case) it could cause a lot of problems. Isn't there already a little bit of controversy as to who is making the roster decisions? All ten draft picks made the team as we all know. Personally, this just means I will have more questions answered concerning player personnel. So far now that "Cerrats" is the man, I like what he has done. People criticize the Jason Taylor deal, but it was necessary. I think his real challenge lies ahead in the next couple of years with all of the money and mistakes they've made in the past.
