Re: ESPN's Week 4 Power Rankings
Even if we did beat the Boyz and Eagles, the skins still wouldn't get the respect they deserve. The media would say the Boyz and Eagles "beat themselves" instead of admitting that skins played good ball. That is what some of the analyst said about the Cards game. If the skins beat both of them I bet ESPN wouldn't rank them higher than #10. They still wouldn't make King's fine fifteen.
Btw SI has the skins ranked at #10 and USAtoday and CBS has them at #12 |
Honestly, I think we are better than these teams ahead of us:
Panthers, Patriots, Jags...POSSIBLY the Bucs too. The Pats look horrible and their next 3 games are against SF (O'Sullivan is actually playing VERY well), San Diego (LOSS) and Denver (LOSS). They may not even win their division. The Colts are even looking shaky on both sides of the ball. Their Offense will come around but the D may not, especially with losing Bob Sanders.
I can assure you we are better than the Bucs. |
Re: ESPN's Week 4 Power Rankings
I love being under the radar...Keep doubting us all the way to the playoffs.

That will kill that poor guys career....I see the next Joey Harrington or David Carr here. |
Re: ESPN's Week 4 Power Rankings
Some of the comments on here had me going back and looking at the rankings. When I first looked I presumed the rankings were by wins/losses, then thought maybe it has to do with something else. After looking I'm lost.....how can several 1-2 teams be ahead of 2-1 teams? or for that matter how can 2-1 teams be ahead of 3-0 teams? The Eagles are 2-1 and ranked 3rd? The Skins are ranked 2-1....and at this point I think we can all agree that the Patriots are going to be the Dolphins of last yr. They may win more but with out their star QB and the bad loss I would have guessed they would have taken a hard fall on that list.

Re: ESPN's Week 4 Power Rankings
you have to win consistently to get respect.
the reason why the pats are still ranked high is because they have years of dominance under their belt. thats not gonna change while theyre 2-1 and still have the team (even though the head's gone). give it a couple wks if they lose theyll be like 17. ....but i could careless "HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!!" |

I believe most NFL power rankings use a formula that factors in many things. Points allowed/surrendered, yards, turnover differential, wheather or not a team was home or away, strength of schedule, etc... Much like the GWP thread, these rankings are a good gague, but can not be totally indicative of a teams actual "strength". |
Re: ESPN's Week 4 Power Rankings
tebow would have better luck as a lion, though gut says chiefs...
either way, he'll have a WR or two, a washed up RB and an OL that can't block anyone. |
Re: ESPN's Week 4 Power Rankings
SI.com power rankings has us at #10, but "Dr. Z" does make a point to mock us with this tidbit..
"My problem with this team is that I saw it, live, in that lackluster loss to the Giants, and the memory dies hard. But it has come back to beat two decent teams, and Jason Campbell hasn't thrown a pick this year, and would you stop laughing please? Can't you see that I'm going out of my way, trying to be fair?" |

Our lackluster loss to the superbowl champions on thier home field, with Strahan popping out of an over-sized Lombardi trophy, losing by only 9 points, with a new head coach and offense. lol. It's a shame people remember the bad more than the good. |

Funny how no one talks about the Giants' lackluster win against the BENGALS (the f'ing BENGALS!!) |
