Re: Shawn Springs throws down the gauntlet on T.O.
I wouldn't exactly say that Springs "threw down the gauntlet." He didn't really say anything inflammatory.
That said, I'm happy we have a healthy Springs to guard him. But did anyone see the way Larry Fitzgerald got behind Reed Doughty on Sunday? I know everyone saw the way TO got behind him *cough* four *cough* times last season. That deep post could eat us alive. |
Re: Shawn Springs throws down the gauntlet on T.O.
T.O. was scared shitless of taylor plain and simple. I realllllly hope that landry can assume that role now and put some hurtin on that loud mouth.
I don't know about that. Champ is very good but a little overrated IMO.
Maybe a bit overrated, but I still would have liked to see Champ stay here, along with Smoot. Smoot might not have regressed if he had stayed put and not get mixed up in the Viking BS. WE got him back and only got a shell of his former self. Carlos and SS get injured too often to be really valuable anymore IMHO. If SS isn't 100% Sunday, TO is going to scorch him at some point. |

I got my popcorn ready.

Re: Shawn Springs throws down the gauntlet on T.O.
That was the first game after Sean Taylor had been hurt. Our D looked lost out there w/ Landry, a rookie, and Doughty, basically a rook in the safety positions. I think Springs was out there but I believe we just couldn't execute very well w/ that many guys back there. I think that was also Landrys first game at Free safety too. We were lost.
I think Doughty got burned a few times. After that game he played much better the remainder of the year.
actually, Reed Doughy was the FS in that game. and obviously he did not have a good game. it was after that game that he was moved to SS and LaRon Landry took over at FS. |
Re: Shawn Springs throws down the gauntlet on T.O.
I don't like it. The last thing I want to do is fire up the powerful Cowboys offense. Springs typically covers TO pretty well, but as people are mentioning he got smoked for four TDs in one meeting.
TO is definitely a tough guy to cover, and coming off his performance Sunday night he will be motivated to have a big game. Yes, TO had four tds last time out but what gets lost in the big picture is that we still had the ball with a chance to win late in that game. Springs is stepping up to the challenge, I like that he's talking. That says he has confidence in his ability and the defense's ability to slow TO down. But as for firing up the powerful Cowboys offense, Daseal they are #1 in the NFL so I think they are already fired up. We're going down there to hose them Cowturds off! |
These guys are friends and train together during the summer. Just a like joshing between to guys who know each other well, both on and off the football field.
I agree, this is a non-issue. These guys know each other well and it's not like Springs was saying anything inflammatory. |
Re: Shawn Springs throws down the gauntlet on T.O.
Yeah no biggie. You have to get fired up about your best competition. I'm excited to see us go out and play this weekend. We belong in the NFC east playoff race and this is our chance to prove it.
Hopefully Landry can step up and scare T.O. like Taylor used to
doubt it...Sean Taylor's size is what scared TO...there is really no DB out there now that TO is scared of...maybe linebackers...I remember Marcus Washington was closing on him once when he was in Philly...I've never seen someone head for the sideline as quick as he did |
Re: Shawn Springs throws down the gauntlet on T.O.
If Landry can get a few of his hits on Owens, he'll be intimidated by him also. I'd like to see a few Horton-Owens-Landry sandwiches on Sunday.

why don't you look at how many games shawn springs has missed since he came here in 2004....... i am picking up what Springs is putting down. the dude last year had to deal with a rookie safety and reed doughty, who might as well have been a rookie last year at that point. both of which were his over the top help....explains the long plays and 4 dirts TO had. Shawn is a great corner and probably one of the most underrated in the NFL..... if you can name 10 better than him i would be surprised. but he also has the benefit of a experienced dirty30 and experienced reed doughty.....my worry would be the rook horton. |
Re: Shawn Springs throws down the gauntlet on T.O.
We sold a 90% Champ for Clinton Portis, and it was a good deal for everybody. I just remember Champ getting torched regularly towards the end.
Everyone should probably just disregard this post, however, I can't honestly evaluate a Georgia Bulldog. GO GATORS! |
