Re: Haslet and Torrence sideline altercation.
The fiery Haslett got into his own confrontation during the game.
Haslett and Redskins cornerback Leigh Torrence exchanged words after the two collided on the sidelines on a punt return. "We jammed him out of bounds, and he decided he was going to run the sideline," Haslett said. "Well, he is supposed to run the white. He can't run all the way behind the bench. He was coming at me, so I figured it was me or him." As he was talking, Haslett demonstrated how he used his forearm to fend off Torrence. "If he is going to run me over, I was going to get him," Haslett said. "I got a good shot on him. I didn't want to get run over. You see those coaches get toppled. Yeah, that wasn't going to be me." Asked if he was concerned about getting into a physical altercation with the 5-foot-11, 182-pound Torrence, Haslett, who played linebacker for nine seasons in the NFL, said, "I'm bigger than he is. He's not that big, so I would have been all right."
I read that too. Why is a coach on the sideline giving a forearm to a player? Isn't there some rule against that? If not, can Blache please give TO the business next time he is near our sideline? |

Re: Haslet and Torrence sideline altercation.
Torrence would have got body slammed. When Haslett was the head coach for New Orleans he would often challenge his players in the weight room. rumors are that he could still bench 450 lbs.

Re: Haslet and Torrence sideline altercation.
Haslett sounds like an a-hole who is longing for his glory days as a player.

Heres the video |
Re: Haslet and Torrence sideline altercation.
After watching that video, it only shows how much of a prick Haslett is. Torrence never left the white of the sideline during the punt as he's being shoved by the Rams blocker, yet Haslett has to stick his arm and his mouth into the equasion. That doesn't excuse Torrence for going up to him afterwards, he should have just ignored it.

Re: Haslet and Torrence sideline altercation.
This would never have happened if Durant Brooks hadn't shanked a punt out-of-bounds.
We're all blaming the wrong person for starting this altercation. It was our former-punter's fault. |
