If Dawkins leave the Eagles...they are in trouble on defense...and that makes me very happy!!

Dawkins could cover a whole bunch of mistakes on that team...just like Sean Taylor did for us.

8 yard gains may now go for 20....thanks Denver!!
Can you say flood the middle of the field with 2 TEs!!
Good for Dawkins. The fresh air will do him good and he won't have to face Sellers twice a year.
Probably my favorite MNF of recent memory was the game in Philly a couple years ago. I was at the Arlington Cinema Drafthouse.

Tony Kornheiser opened the game and said that Joe Gibbs was Washington's Rocky Balboa except that Joe is real.

21 silenced the crowd with a monsterous hit.

Todd Yoder steamrolls Dawkins and puts him out of the game after ESPN pumped Dawkins up to hero proportions in the pre-game coverage.

Washington's last touchdown was off tackle behind Samuels.

The next morning Doc Walker talks about how much he likes the "Wolverine" but that if ESPN wants to do an expose, do it on Caveman Sellers "because he didn't have to be carried off of the field".

Classic!

Nice. That was definitely an awesome game. My beer almost came out of my nose when Kornheiser made the "except Joe Gibbs is real" comment.

Speaking of safeties, man I miss Sean Taylor.

The Drafthouse was pretty quiet when Kornheiser did the opening. When he said that I screamed out, "That's right!" I couldn't help it.

Selfishly, it is so unfair to have your most talented player taken from you in such a senseless fashion. Part of me is glad that he was all ours while he played.

while there is no doubt age is catching up with him, his locker leadership will be sorely missed in Philly. according to comcast, the eagles didnt expect that kind of offer. i love it when other teams are caught with their pants down

There is no way that Philly won't miss Dawkins (I view him as their Ray Lewis). I know their policy is to get rid of guys a year early but I think that they should have let Dawkins have at least another year (I think he is talented enough to warrant a franchise tag) bought McNabb a big receiver and give it one more run.

Dawkins is Awesome. IMO. Also my favorite non Skins player. He will definatly be missed by Philly. My Brother is a Eagles fan and on the phone it sounds like he's crying over it. He's 35 years old. (maybe he has a cold):) BIG mistake by Philly IMO. for many reasons as posted by many of you. The only good thing about it, is for us he leaves the NFC East. Man the Eagles are gonna stink this season. Good pick up by Denver.

Good article from Clark Judge on B-Dawk. Philly looks just like the a-holes they are by not keeping him.

Hopefully Dawkins leaving is enough detriment to the team to make McNabb request to be traded.

Anybody catch the Lito traded to the Jets story? I heard the Jets just gave Lito a new contract too.

Thanks for that article GMScud: And your right the Eagles are a-holes. Not only for not keeping him. but because they cut him knowing that the Philly fans love him. Not to mention he is a Great player. I know its better for us that he is no longer part of the NFC East.

With that said, I enjoy the games in the NFC East because it is the toughest division with some the most talented players in the NFL. Dawkins was certainly part of that. So from that perspective. I will miss him also.

I also agree Dawkins will be considered for the HOF some day. He was the Eagles Darrell Green. Dumb move Philly!

So they are a-holes but they "do a solid job personnel-wise".
Philly does a solid job personnel-wise. They do a good job in the draft for the most part and understand the importance of the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
This is why I said in the other thread that I would rather have our FO. Yes they manage the personnel, but do the owners care about the fans or players- it's pretty hard to tell. Does DS, I think what he has spent, Redskins One on draft day, the team at ST21's funeral, all show that he does. Will Snyder ever learn how to build the dynasty we all want to see, I hope so, but will he ever act like he doesn't care, I doubt it.

Click on an audibly emotional Dawkins

This makes me hate the Eagles even more. They truly lost a great player and person in Dawkins. He was the Eagles.

Well, obviously they made a mistake here. Have we not made worse mistakes? The bottom line is they absolutely do a solid job personnel wise, which was my only point all along. Otherwise they wouldn't have gone to 5 NFC Championship games in the past 10 years (how many have we been to in that span?).

I don't like it one bit, but it's not really up for debate who the better team has been since Snyder bought the Redskins. And bringing up Snyder's private plane as an argument is really funny. Not to mention Sean Taylor's funeral. I'm sure the majority of owners would have been extremely generous in such a difficult time. Snyder handled Sean's death with grace and compassion, but who is to say Jeffrey Lurie wouldn't have done the same?

And yeah, they are a-holes and still do a good job with personnel. Football is a brutal business. Winning comes before feelings. That said, losing Dawkins was stupid and unnecessary, but Lurie had some pretty nice things to say:

"Brian Dawkins has been one of the pillars of this franchise for 13 years," Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a written statement posted on the team's website. "He helped lead us to five NFC Championship games and one Super Bowl. Brian embodies everything you look for in a professional athlete and human being. I have been fortunate to witness his impeccable character, his passion for the game of football and his commitment to being the best player he could be. I look forward to continuing a close relationship with him once his playing days are over. His legacy as an Eagle will last forever and will ultimately land him in Canton as a Hall of Famer."

This may all sound like I'm an Eagles fan. Absolutely not even close. But I'll take their front office over ours any day. Hopefully Vinny and Co. will prove me wrong.
