Re: The Redskins want to replace Jon Jansen for good
So they blame the defense and the offensive line for last year's collapse. For some people it really is a struggle to see what's right in front of their noses.
The deal with Wide Receivers is that they can either play or they can't. Try and think of a WR that struggled, struggled, and then was great all of the sudden in year 3. I can't either. Name me a receiver that had a rookie season like the two stiffs we drafted that ever amounted to a pile of pooh. There aren't any. So, we spend the next however many years pretending that a defense that never gave up more than 25 points in a game or an offensive line that is a lot better than say Arizona's, is the problem while Vinny Cerrato continues to assure us that THIS will be the week that Kelly and Thomas breakout. I've seen this movie before. |
Re: The Redskins want to replace Jon Jansen for good
Sweet Jesus!
Runyan IS Jansen. Why the hell would we replace an aging and ineffective past top RT with another? That is the silliest thing I have heard. |
Re: The Redskins want to replace Jon Jansen for good
As of now he's a risk, unless he can change his way till draft day.
It's well worth it. Smith is one of those guys thats still good even when he doesn't try. However keep in mind this is where having to radioactively date our aging O-line becomes an advantage. I have little doubt that the guys will push Smith to be his best, keep in mind a lot of them (especially Thomas and Samuals) seem to have that mentor mindset in that they don't mind taking players under their wings. Hell even Thomas said last year before the draft that we needed to add depth on the O-line, even if it meant drafting his replacement. In my opinion there are some places were certain positions are destined to succed and O-line is that kind of position for the Redskins. Especailly with Buges as the coach. |

Sorry man, couldn't help it. |
Re: The Redskins want to replace Jon Jansen for good
Why would you replace Jansen with Runyan?
I rather have Jansen and give him another chance. The only reason I say this is, if Jansen does get cut then I would sign Runyan and give him a 1 year contract and plug the whole for this year. |

Do you think Runyan would come cheap? I doubt it. Plus half of this board would blow up for bringing another aging lineman into the mix. |

Now do they struggle like ours did? Not sure...injuries played a huge role in that but name more than 5 who played WELL. Not just average or almost average. |

I actually have Thomas and Kelly (aka Lazy and Peg Leg) as future 700 yard guys with the possibility of maybe 1 or 2 1,000 yard seasons but thats just me. Plus I think it's worth menitioning that Thomas got screwed out of a big play by Stephon Heyer against Arizona. |
Re: The Redskins want to replace Jon Jansen for good
Why don't we restructure Jansens contract, and then cut him...or trade him along with Golston and betts to Detroit for their 2nd round pick
And just watch Andre smith he is better than most of our olineman right now; I don't care if he ran away from the combine or got suspended for dealing with an agent, the guy can play and start immediatly for us and be great for years to come, if he is still at 13 it's a no brainer that we'll draft him...if he's not there then we'll trade down |

Nice sig Goat. I don't think there is any doubt the receivers didn't play well last year. But the bottom line is we were 6-2 until the o-line collapsed. |

As a prospective NFL player, it is his job to be in shape! Would you go to a doctor who said he couldn't be bothered to keep up with medical advances? Would you go to a lawyer who said he didn't care about bar certification? Geez, Andre Smith would have been better off showing up at the Combine in a t-shirt which said "BUST" in block letters. His talent doesn't matter - JUST SAY NO to Andre Smith. |
