Re: Patriots Prepping to Pick Peppers from Panthers?
If this trade goes down like this, then I can't help but wonder...do the Pats really miss Pioli, and was he maybe not the magical personnel wiz in New England we all thought he was?

to be fair though they know that its the 2nd pick in the 2nd round. our second round pick was a mystery. it could have been any pick, maybe ever the first, lol. A boats a boat but the box could have been anythign, it could have even been a boat!! |

And it would make Bill Parcells' feat of getting a 2nd/6th for Taylor look like nothing compare to getting Peppers for a 2nd rounder. Maybe Darth Hoody wants to show Parcells off with this trade. Not to mention that his defense would be ridiculous. Once again, I can't believe the Pats are giving up just a 2nd rounder, there's gotta be more to this. |
Re: Patriots Prepping to Pick Peppers from Panthers?
anything is better for the Panthers than have a malcontent pouting and taking up cap room. Peppers has already proven that he's willing to cash his checks but not try when he's unhappy.

If all they are excepting is second, then why don't we step up to the plate. Just think of the pass rush that we will be able to generate with Haynesworth and Peppers on the same side of the line. This can make our other defensive needs a lot less glaring. |

You could argue the opposite as well, sort of. Maybe Pioli was SO good that he groomed the staff underneath him to be able to take the baton and keep running at full speed without him. Maybe that's why the Pats were willing to let him walk. We know the Pats epitomize "team" as well as anyone. Maybe their front office structure is the same way. |
Re: Patriots Prepping to Pick Peppers from Panthers?
For a 2nd round pick if I'm the Pats I'd make the trade. In '07 he played awful, but last year was a contract year so I expected him to put up good numbers. He's older (29) but he's still has alot left. That would be a good trade given that they play a 3-4 which Peppers wants to be in.

Re: Patriots Prepping to Pick Peppers from Panthers?
If the Panthers deal Peppers for a second round pick they are out of their minds!

Re: Patriots Prepping to Pick Peppers from Panthers?
the pats, (who i hate the most of any time in the league...yes even the cowboys) look like they're poised for another year like 2 years ago if this peppers thing really does go down...they've already gotten springs, galloway, fred taylor, chris baker, leigh bodden, greg lewis, and now they want to get peppers, all this doesn't even include what ever ridiculous picks they get in the draft....god i hate them soo much, but if Brady gets hurt again, then none of this really matters....
Yea, if we could ever get a QB like Brady.
....and a coach like Belicheck(sp) doesn't hurt.:goodjob: |

We, apparently, are not worthy. |
Re: Patriots Prepping to Pick Peppers from Panthers?
I would trade next years number 1 for peppers in a heartbeat.

Re: Patriots Prepping to Pick Peppers from Panthers?
The 34th overall pick for Julius Peppers seems like a pretty fair deal, to be honest. The Panthers might actually come out on top if Peppers makes a poor transition to a 3-4 OLB. But as far as reimbursement, the 34th pick in this draft gives the Panthers a more than fair chance to grab a replacement or better.
