Re: Panthers Extend Quarterback who Isn't as Good as Jason Campbell
Jake D. is a streaky middle of the pack NFL QB. He has done some things that JC has not which is take his team to a SB. Good move by Carolina not hitting the panic button after the playoff disaster.

Re: Panthers Extend Quarterback who Isn't as Good as Jason Campbell
Jake is a middle of the road guy but not as bad as some people want to think.
JC I think has a brighter future skills wise if he could just settle down with a team. |
Re: Panthers Extend Quarterback who Isn't as Good as Jason Campbell
This was the same FO that was rumored to be trading Peppers to New England for a 2nd rounder.
I think when the Skins didn't get Jay Cutler & they had the meeting with Jason Campbell, he must of told them i'm out after this season you can't afford me & i don't blame him for saying that.
That would have been the logical thing to have happened. JC isn't a bad QB at all, but I think we have pretty much seen what we can expect from him. I agree with you also. A lot of JC's problems arise with the inadequacies in the O in general. The biggest part of my argument that he probably won't be resigned is that he is naturally going to expect a raise for someone in his position, and Snyder isn't going to give him that for what really amounts to just an above average performance thus far. |
Re: Panthers Extend Quarterback who Isn't as Good as Jason Campbell
JC better then Delhomme? um no. look at Won loss records, QB rating, TD:INT ratio.....

To me Sanchez's floor in two years is Tier 3. His Ceiling is Tier 2. |
Re: Panthers Extend Quarterback who Isn't as Good as Jason Campbell
When Campbell is in the position to actually throw a pass in the playoffs then I would possibly compare him to Joke Delhomme. Joke has an NFC championship under his belt and a playoff win in New York. Campbell may not even be a starter on opening day.

gtripp, while i agree with you on most subjects, i playfully disagree here. the one thing Delhomme has that Campbell doesn't. and that's the ability to make plays

Also, I would think the run of the mill Orlovskys and Fitzpatricks of the world would be a tier above terrible players like Russell and 08 Anderson. Either way, this was more of a news thread that was cleverly (or, not so much) disguised as a "Campbell ain't gettin no love" thread. |
Re: Panthers Extend Quarterback who Isn't as Good as Jason Campbell
And I'm surprised that a debate even broke out since it's been four years since the last time Delhomme has been even an average player. He had a breakout year in '03, his team was ravaged by injury in '04, and his career year came in '05. But since then, he's been bad, injured, and bad respectively.
Campbell on the other hand, has been sitting, then meh, then good, then good+ in his four years. So yeah, I'd say that he's already a more accomplished passer than Delhomme right now. Even the very worst of Campbell has been better than anything Delhomme has done in the last three seasons. But Rex Grossman is a free agent if we want someone who has "been there" already. We don't need Campbell for that. |

Why not he gave Brandon Lloyd, Trotter,Adam Archuletta,Jason Taylor, and David Patten a raise to play like garbage. |

Tell that to Dan Synder and Vinne C. cause they must think Sanchez is a Franchise QB to have to move to get him when you have a capable QB in Campbell now. |

Maybe you need to watch the 49er game when came lead the offense down the field late in the 4th QT to take the lead. Our defense could not hold the lowly 49ers offense and they kicked a fg to win. |
Re: Panthers Extend Quarterback who Isn't as Good as Jason Campbell
Man I am from Charlotte. Jake is terrible. Ever see a picture of Campbell in the newspaper throwing the ball with his eyes closed. Jake has numerous pictures of him throwing the ball with his eyes closed. He is laugh around these parts.

i saw the game. and remember the skins lost. making plays in losses doesn't count. and we are talking about the 49ers, right? Delhomme has been to the super bowl, right?im not saying the last couple of seasons were stellar. but some qbacks have the ability to make plays. im not sure Campbell does |
