Erasmus James redux - except this time we don't risk a draft pick.

Oh, come on. Our first this year, our third this year, and Laron Landry would get something done.

I'm not saying that we should do this - in fact I might kill myself if we did. I'm even on record saying that the move-up talk is just crap.

But the fact is that teams trade more than just draft picks. If we really wanted to move up, we could.

It worth the chance if Williams does make the team it only will improve our O-Line depth.
Here's the problem ,this is the NFL its really difficult to be out 2 season with injuries and come back and play at a High Level. Good Luck Mike Williams we are pulling for you.

M. Williams is a right tackle - - correct?

Didn't we hear from a fully knowledgeable and unimpeqachable Redskins' source that if Stephon Heyer could only remember to bend his knees that he was "unbeatable"? So, why do they need to sign a right tackle who has had as many injuries in the past two years as Chad Reinhart had butt-splinters last year?

Please...

Did I miss the fact that the Bills had one of the top OLs in history last year? Well, if they didn't, why are the Skins taking two of the guys they were willing to get rid of?

If the Redskins want a RT - - or depth at RT in case the "unbeatable" S. Heyer is injured - - there is someone named J. Runyon unsigned. If you want to take a chance on a RT coming off an injury who has demonstrated superior play in the NFL, why not sign Runyon and tell Williams to take up piano moving for a career?

Maybe we can inject him with whatever Darth Hoody in New England used to squeeze a year or two out of Junior Seau.

I like Runyan, too, but only for the short term.

As for Williams, he left the Bills several years ago. Played very briefly with the Jags. Hasn't played at all for a couple of years.

I think this is good draft insurance in case we miss out on one of the top 4 OT's.
It also gives us the flexibility to think Dline, LBs.

The other thing it does is it gives an impression to those picking below us that they dont have to jump us if they need an OT...it is quite possible that this is all part of this Sanchez talk anyways....at least that is what I believe.

This is a solid pick up...even if he cant stay healthy 100%...this guy has a ton of potential as long as we can keep him healthy....arguably...the guy could start...although, I'm not sure we'd want to depend on that...but out of Heyer, Williams and Jansen, I am sure they can handle 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down

I honestly think this is a good sign. If he can get anywhere close to what he was the line will be that much stronger. I hope he starts to train with phillip Daniels because it will help him to become stronger.

Lotus:

So with that history, someone thinks this is a "great signing"? There was a time when people thought he was worth a first round pick. That was six years ago - - or was it seven? In the intervening years he has distinguished himself by doing what?

The Skins signed him; he will come to camp. If there is a spate of OL injuries, he will make the team and play - - meaning the Skins' season is likely doomed. Absent the spate of injuries, he will pack his bags and leave Redskins Park in search of an NFL team that DID have a spate of OL injuries in training camp...

Unless we gave up a ton of money (which I doubt we did) can people stop bitching about this signing? I agree, it is not the best signing, but it's the worst, ok?

I think you are right on the spot. As for me, I like the signing just in terms of increasing competition for backup spots. I would not call the signing "great."

Williams could be a worthwhile addition, adding versatility( who knows when
either Thomas, Heyer, Jansen or even Our iron man Samuels will go down)
at the OG and OT spots. Williams has experience playing both positions and
could be vital mid to late season... with that said, I'd still give Runyan a look.
Silly signing IMO...if were not gonna get a legit guy in the draft we should commit to set money aside to sign one in FA...Levi Jones as i mention or another.
agreed. Mike Williams has been a bust. I'm surprised we didn't draft him.

Not sure what's not to like here. He's probably getting the vet min. Let's see what he can do.
