Matty:
The officiating tonight was terrible. But it was terrible both ways. In the first half Skins' scoring drive, they missed the incomplete pass to Portis AND on the same play they missed that he was down by contact. That was a third down play in Skins territory that would have caused a punt if they got it right. Gardner's final catch of the game was offensive pass interference. Not called. The "false start" on Flozell Adams in the final Cowboys possession was not a false start. The officials did not cover themselves in glory tonight but five sacks had as much to do with the loss tonight as anything else. Also, after Bowen got burned for a TD by the Giants, we had a whole bunch of folks here calling for his benching so we could see Sean Taylor and all that he would do. Well, you saw Taylor tonight and he was just as late as Bowen was on the TD pass to Terry Glenn. I'm waiting to hear how he should be benched immediately... When you have the ball first and goal at the one yard line and you don't gain an inch, I'd say there was some kind of problem there that had not a whole lot to do with the officials. Made a TD from the one yard line instead of a field goal and you have a very different dynamic in the 4th quarter. |
bah it doesn't make up for the god-awful call on Harris. That call was total and utter garbage.
I hate to disappoint you on this..but IT was a CATCH! and if you remember correctly, they had already completed one 4th down conversion on that drive and I am pretty sure they would have done it again. It would have been 4th and 1 or 2 where he was downed at. Yes, the refs missed that call, but it was still conceiveable that they would have gone for it on 4th down (not punted), got the first down and still scored. So that call didn't really affect anything except a bunch of maybe's. And as far as the Offensive PI on the last play of the game, what did that affect? Calling that made no difference in the outcome of the game, all it did was pad the stats a little. |
Yeah thats a difference of 2 yards on their " bad call " that hurt dallas to 57 yards yards on their FIRST bad call that killed us.

well i did'nt see poor coaching,i never have from a joe gibbs coached team.i thought it took the skins o awhile to get started and it is tough to beat anybody when you have 11 guys on the field and they have 11 + the refs on the field.ray charles, stevie wonder, ronnie milsap, and any other blind man could have called that game better than those"jackass zebras"did last night.that was the worst officiating i have ever seen at any game at any level.the ref staff assured themselves that they will not work at the superbowl this year unless they park cars or clean up the bathrooms.

i'l tell you something else that really pissed me off.did you guys see LA up in the press box dancing around during the game?i thought that was bullshit.when is barrow going to play?what was the purpose of signing him anyway?moral support.
|
I noticed Gregg Williams appear to disagree with Joe on the sideline AT LEAST three times and each time he walked away shaking his head and looking pissed off.
Did anyone else see that? |
I wouldn't say poor coaching, but poor time management and goal-line play calling.
The question on bad time management is was it Gibbs (getting the play in late/wrong personnel) or Brunnel taking too long in the huddle? Either way, they really need to work on it.
The 1st and goal from the 1 yard line: Not necessarily the plays called (punching it in), but the bunched up formation. Kinda like Madden was saying, if they had spread it out some, it would have spread out the defense and given them more of a chance for a real push.
As for the refs, yeah they blew quite a few calls, the biggest being the bad call on Harris in the end zone and the non-call when Gardner was pulled down in the end zone. But, right or wrong, the "human factor" is a big (and important) part of football, so I'm very hesitant to blame the loss on the refs. That was a very good heads-up play for Brunnel hurrying up to the next play when he knew Portis should have be called down short of the 1st down.... |

I didn't see LA "dancing around", but he seemed to be having to much of a good time when his team was down....smiling/laughing too much.... Barrow was signed because he had a history of NOT being injured....only missing like 5 games in 10 years or something like that.....so this is a new experience for him. Chalk it up to bad luck.... |
The missed call on Portis "catch" and " run after the catch" gave the Skins a first down in their own half of the field. Absent those TWO mistakes by the officials, there would have been a punt. The fourth down attempt by the Skins came later.
Complaining about officials and looking at stat sheets for some kind of solace is what LOSERS do. So stop doing it. The Skins played their toughest opponent thusfar and played them tough and close. That is a good sign, not a bad one. The only unit on the team that really needs to get a kick in the ass from the coaching staff today is the OL. Five sacks is just too much to allow and when you have first and goal at the one, you are supposed to get a TD. The OL is the only unit that underperformed last night. |

Did anyone else see that?
Yeah, I saw it. Gregg Williams was right. No point in calling a timeout at the goal when the bootleg play was clearly the solution. Williams's emotions were felt and understood. |

The mistake that Smoot made cost us. And the defense fell apart on that series because Testeverde threw two consecutive passes to score. No pressure at all on Testeverde. The defense is also responsible for two big F ups. |
I guess I'm a loser then, the refs gift wrapped 7 points to the Cowboys, I don't know how anyone can deny that.
Yeah it's part of the game, it just leaves you feeling a bit cheated. As for LaVar up in the box, who cares? Just because he was caught laughing or joking around doesn't mean he doesn't care. That's just ridiculous. Who knows what context his laughter was in. It's really silly to point to him in the box and question his team loyalty. Jansen has also been sitting up in the box, should we question him too? We better not see him crack a smile up there, god forbid! |
Yeah that's stupid to question Lavar's loyalty to this team. He is our franchise player and probably couldn't take it being on the field and not being able to play.
|
you kidding? LaVar is the keeper of the lockerroom and always takes note and loathes when players laugh after a loss. he was probably smiling cuz it was his first time up there and he just saw his team's offense make a FIRST DOWN.
