Re: The President, a police officer, and a harvard professor walk into a bar...
Really? I don't think that would be cool. I think it would be the continuation of a dumb charade. I'm pretty sure Gates and Crowley aren't exactly pals. I mean, maybe they now have a mutual respect, maybe, but I doubt it goes any further than that. This situation should just go away.
I don't think they are pals either, but neither do I don't think it's a dumb charade unless the media turns it into a circus. Otherwise I see no problem with it. |

If they're not friends and they plan on going to a baseball game together, how is that not a charade? The media (and Obama) has already turned this into a circus. That's why I said this situation needs to just go away. Plus, if they're in the stands together, that will open the door for any fan with an opinion (and alcohol) to shout stuff at them. I think it is without question a charade, and a bad idea as well, IMO. |

You act like this is the first time or a rare occurrence. The man can't speak without his teleprompter. :laughing2 To quote the President "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh Ummmmmmmmmm UHHHHHHHHHH." |

I mean, serious question. Look, race and race relations is a complicated thing. We tend to learn incident by incident. Just because this thing started out messy, which it did, doesn't mean that now Gates and Crowley can't act like grown ups going forward. Some people just might be watching to see if that's even possible. I think those who look for the negative will find it. (not talking about you, by the way) And those that are hoping for a positive outcome, will look for it. Personally, I could care less if they went to a baseball game or Hooters. I think it's "cool" that they've moved on. |

Them pretending to be pals and attending a baseball game together does nothing for race relations IMO. The fact that a Harvard Professor and a police seargant are acting like grown ups and moving on shouldn't be praised, it should be expected. They don't need to parade around in public to move forward. |

To quote the President "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh Ummmmmmmmmm UHHHHHHHHHH."
I'm not a democrat, but you can't even compare the two in terms of speaking ability. It hasn't been that long, you cannot have forgotten these: [YT]AioJbNL1JS8[/YT] |

Hmm...I can see where you're coming from. If it was something more private, say, at one of their respective homes it would come off as being less pretentious. I definitely see your point though. |
Re: The President, a police officer, and a harvard professor walk into a bar...
I don't follow current events, so let me see if I understand this correctly...
The police arrest the professor at his house, after a break-in. Obama must have said something along the lines of race regarding the incident. Now he's having them over for beers to set it straight? Sounds pretty cool to me. |

There was NOTHING racist about this incident other than how the white 911 operator was treated. |

I didn't say there was anything racist about it -- just that Obama must have said something along the lines of race. Then, he had them over for beers to settle it? I think that's cool. Give the guy a break (Obama, the professor and the cops), people make mistakes. |

Obama was at a press'r when asked about the guy gettin arrested. After Obama said he knew nothing about the facts he then called the police stupid. The professor was locked out of his house and used a crow bar to pry open the door. Someone saw this going on and called the cops. The cop showed up to the house to find two men in the house. He asked for them to step out side and thats when the professor got an attitude and refused to step out side or show any ID. The cop then got an attitude and arrested the man and then the whole profiling thing came up. The police dropped the charges and the whole thing was starting to settle down until the President opened his big mouth. About a week later they all met at the whitehouse for a few beers. It seems that the professer and cop made good with each other and they may even go to a ball game in the near future. Anytime your behind on the news just ask me and I'll give you the facts fair and balanced. |
