Re: Eagles LB Stewart Bradley Out for Season
I'm sure Philly fans feel really bad when we have training camp injuries...
It's a part of the game and I'd be remiss if I didn't say I'm glad that it didn't happen to us. Injuries are all chance, they happen to all teams regardless of whether you wish for it or not. I'm just glad it wasn't a Skin. |
Re: Eagles LB Stewart Bradley Out for Season
While he had a big year last year the team has plenty of time to fill the void. They have a good coaching staff and as with all good teams they over come these issues. Now if injuries start stacking up then they might have an issue.

Re: Eagles LB Stewart Bradley Out for Season
Omar Gaither was not penciled in to be a starter this year, so it seems he'll now get the first crack at replacing Bradley. They're using Gocong and Hakeem Jordan on the outside, and Gaither is kind of the versatile fill-in, kind of the way we've used Blades in the past.
They do have Joe Mays, who reminds me a lot of HB Blades. He was a rookie last year, drafted in the 6th round out of North Dakota State, 5' 11" and 246 pounds. Word is he has decent speed and a nose for the ball. Height is the only knock. He might earn some time. But yeah, no matter what the Eagles lost the QB of their defense and a guy who was developing into quite a leader, and a pretty athletic player to boot. They'll miss him. |
Re: Eagles LB Stewart Bradley Out for Season
I feel bad for the player but screw the team. We've been there before and the amount of pity we got wouldn't fill a thimble. Hail Redskins!

Well I'm wondering how many Iggles fans are believe Mike Florio's gloom and doom about Haynesworth's knee. |

I'm sure they're hoping he's right. |
Re: Eagles LB Stewart Bradley Out for Season
In other Iggle news, according to Adam Schefter's Twitter page, Maclin reaches a 5-year deal with the Eagles.
Matt Moseley also reports on ESPN, no details on the contract yet... Philadelphia Eagles agree to deal with Jeremy Maclin - ESPN |
Re: Eagles LB Stewart Bradley Out for Season
Eagles seem to have found some linebacker help
"Wilhelm to Eagles" by Chargers Blog |
Re: Eagles LB Stewart Bradley Out for Season
Wilhem is a nice little player, but the Eagles usually don't make mid level injury replacement signings. They usually don't have to. This appears to be an exception.

Were they thin at LB after losing Bradley? Also, any issues with Wilhelm going from a 3-4 to a 4-3 system? Just curious. |

I feel like they were thin with Bradley. I think they took it for granted that effective linebackers could be found in the middle rounds of the draft, and I think they could, when Jim Johnson was running the show. Gocong is a pretty good player, but I think Akeem Jordan, Omar Gaither, and Wilhelm are quite mediocre. Joe Mays is a guy a lot of fans think has a future, but we don't know anything about him any more than we know about someone like Alfred Fincher. |
Re: Eagles LB Stewart Bradley Out for Season
Philly fans would laugh at big Al if he blew his knee out. now they just have a built in excuse for when they don't win.

Gaither and Jordan are not bad but they are not that great, either. I think losing Bradley really hurts the Philly defense. Further, my hope is that their offensive line, which everyone touts as all-world, is not as good on the field as it is on paper. There are injury and chemistry concerns there. My point is that the Iggles may not be the world beaters that many preseason prognosticators make them out to be. |

Andrews is already having issues (not a planned injection) and Peters sat out also. In fact I think Dallas and Philly both could see major problems on their line, ours may turn out to be the 2nd best in the division. |

And the assumption that the o-line will instantly gel, I kind of find that hard to believe that they will be one of the best lines in the league right away. Jackson had a good year, will he get extra attention from opposing defenses this year like Santana does? The rookies are just that...rookies. How they contribute is anyones guess right now. I hope they believe the hype. |
