Portis. That fumble, when and where it happened, utterly changed the game. We went from up 10-3 with the ball and the momentum, to tied, on the road, without the momentum. Again, like in New York, it gave a weak team life in their own stadium. And it was committed by our (allegedly) best player. Ouch.

What happened to all the Taylor supporters that were second guessing why he wasn't starting from week one?

MVP is for the player whose on the winning team right? 122yds was good but overshadowed by the fumble.

I chose Portis due to his fumble and his inability to move the chains. He now has cost us 2 games with his canning ability to drop the rock. .

Also, I am wondering why Sean Taylor isn't on this list??? He got burned multiple times and continues to look lost out there....now we know why the coaching staff didn't want him starting, he isn't ready.

I voted 'Other' as in 'Whole Team'.

Has anyone else asked their Dr. to up their meds yet?

Whats so messed up is how good he looked in preseason. Was it a first team offense he played against in preseason? Because he's missing a lot of tackles and even turned his back to the receiver without touching him while he was on the ground! What in the hell was he thinking? Oh, they might as well score if they got to the goal line?

bridaman51 10-04-2004 01:41 PM

there is nothing worse on sunday than a redskins loss for me. I love the skins, and after a loss I dont wanna pick a LVP. I dont like to dwell on the negatives. Yes Portis needs to stop fumbling, and we need to catch the ball better, stop penalties, special teams need to tackle better, etc. The whole team needs to play better and they will. I beleive deep down in the pit of stomach that Gibbs will get this turned around.

I voted Portis, but other than the fumble, I think it wasn't him as much as the O-line not executing and creating the holes for him. There were at least a couple times where he was a block away from breaking one...

DON'T BLAME THE PLAYERS. THIS IS ALL THE COACHING STAFFS FAULT! :madani:

How is it the coaching staffs fault when Portis or Coles fumbles?

celts32 10-04-2004 04:47 PM

Portis without a doubt. Everything else being the same they are 3-1 easily without his fumbles. I don't think you could make that case with any other single person on the team.

That Guy 10-04-2004 07:15 PM

you could make the case that if the passing game was any good, than you wouldn't have to pin your fate on one guy (of 11 out there).... and as a whole the O would be able to overcome one turnover... out of the 7 last drives, only one went for over 12 yards.

People can blame the coaching all they want. They have made some very questionable, and some downright stupid calls. The fact of the matter is, they have put us in a position to win all the games and the players dont execute. We won vs Tampa, we were well in the position to beat the Giants, we got screwed by the refs last week, and we were in the position to win this week. Leaving the Dallas game out, because its so questionable as too why we lost. The coaching staff has put us in the postion to win all three other games. Portis fumbles, Brunell/Ramsey turnovers, Coles Turnovers, those are on those guys, not the coaches. Its not Gibbs and Bugel out there turning over the football. We have been in the position to win, we havent executed, bottom line.

It goes without saying that right now they are not a good enough team to overcome costly turnovers. Right now this team is just not good enough to overcome a fumble returned for a TD against NY, and a fumble in the opening drive of the 3rd quarter in 2 of the 4 games. I wish they were good enough but they are not. In reality it takes more than one mistake to equal a loss, but if you have to pin it on one man that man is Mr. Portis. There are no other single persons mistakes that you can argue cost 2 wins.
