Re: The redskins performance tonight will be considered a failure if....
First and foremost no injuries. I still only want CP to play one or two series, same with Samuels. It would be a complete failure if CP, Samuels, or Haynesworth has a season ending injury.
It would be nice to see our special teams play effectively in all facets. It would be nice to see our D stop 3 and medium to longs and get off the field Our offense is what it is, and we will not see what it can be until the first or maybe second game of the season. And no matter what it does tonight, it will be too little for a lot of people on this board. With all that, I don't want to see the same type of game we saw against Carolina in last year's "big game".
I agree, the O is what it is. With all the same players in all the same roles, I just dont see the O being any different this year than last. |

It will be a failure if there are any injuries. Agreed with some of you before me. Winning is irrelevant. I believe all of Joe Gibbs' super bowl teams lost a majority of their preseason games.
Points arent irrelevant for a team like the Skins that cant score any.
I'm not that concerned if our offense is moving the ball that well (7-9 first downs) against a good defense. Also if we can move the ball that well TD's and points will come. Our offense though will simply not come that far in just one game. Points, to me, are still irrelevant. Our offense needs to prove it can build long sustaining drives and keep our defense resting off the field. That is what I'll need to see tonight. |
Re: The redskins performance tonight will be considered a failure if....
I can't believe how many people here will be satisfied with 10 points out of the starting offense. I guess we've become conditioned to expect such mediocrity out of our offense. I thought I heard most of the starters are going play three quarters, and it's a home game. 10 points in 3 quarters isn't going to win you too many ball games.
If we don't see at least a couple of of TDs, (I'd like to see 3 scoring drives at a minimum) I'm going to be really concerned that our offense is nothing more than the stumbling wreck it was during the second half of 2008. |

They cant wait until week 7 to start scoring points, they gotta be ready to go on week 1 and that readiness starts in preseason. |

Re: The redskins performance tonight will be considered a failure if....
I would say the Injury things that most others have mentioned.
Other than that it would be dissappointing if we dont score more than 1 TD but not a failure. It would also be dissappointing if the kick coverage teams aren't a little better. I would really like to see a turnover early in the game. Perhaps right after a long drive that ended in points. |

I meant 10-14 points by the half, too, which would be 20-28 for a whole game. I thought the starters would play only about a half. |

McNabb played into the 3rd quarter in yesterday's game. We could do that too if Zorn caves to the fan pressure of wanting Campbell to do something no matter how long it takes. |

Jason Campbell continues to look like a deer caught in headlights..

Agreed. While I definitely want to see a good showing by the first team offense, I want no injuries. |

Missed the last game? Don't just look at the stat sheet. |

Seriously. Remember last year the Skins got smoked in the 3rd preseason game by the Panthers, and that didn't seem to hurt them in the 6-2 start, and what did it have to do with the 2-6 finish for that matter? Nothing. How they look tonight will not make or break the season. If it makes you feel better if they trounce the Patriots, that's great. But it's not going to mean squat once week 1 rolls around and everyone's record resets to 0-0 and the real games begin. |
