The Redskins looking to sign A. Woodson. Maybe a good idea that will give us intell on Giants
I heard the Jets acquired O' Connell from Lions for intell on Pats |
Re: 2009 Practice squad
Makes sense. Remember when we played the Giants and supposedly Lavar Arrington was giving them all our plays.

Cody Glenn signed by Colts
Wynn over Dixon. Redskins blew that call! He's now an E-girl!
agreed, that was very disappointing, had we kept him we'd definitely be working on a solid line for the future.. |
Re: 2009 Practice squad
Two more spots to fill.
Posted at 5:48 PM ET, 09/ 6/2009 Skins Sign Woodson to Practice Squad The Redskins have opted to try to sign a bigger quarterback, Kentucky's Andre Woodson, to their practice squad, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. Woodson, 25, was a sixth-round draft pick by the New York Giants in 2008. Among his achievements at Kentucky, Woodson, at 6-4, broke the NCAA record of 271 passes (set by Trent Dilfer) without an interception in September 2007. He extended that streak to 325 attempts before it was broken. In the Music City Bowl, he broke the SEC record for passing touchdowns in a season; he eclipsed Danny Wuerffel's record of 39 by one. Earlier, Chase Daniel, generously listed at 6 feet tall, was signed to the New Orleans Saints' practice squad. This leaves the Redskins with two open practice squad slots after they signed Lendy Holmes, J.D. Skolnitsky, Eddie Williams, Trent Shelton and Rob Jackson. Two other players who were cut Saturday by the Redskins found practice squad spots with other teams: Cody Glenn in Indianapolis and Antonio Dixon in Philadelphia. |
Re: 2009 Practice squad
Everyone's pretty steamed about Wynn over Dixon, but I think Wynn is there as a better run-stopper. Dixon showed some flashes, but as a backup to Daniels, Wynn seems a better fit.
To bad Dixon couldn't make the PS, but that's the price of actually having a little depth! |

But being at both pre-season games and of course watching the other two on TV. Wynn did not look good to me at all. I was really surprised in his lack of production, he looked old, underpowered, and ready for the booth. Dixon, could have been a good project. At the end of the day, I'm surprised RW made the team. I didn't think that would have been a surprise cut, just a guy that couldn't cut it. Also, I hope he doesn't have to relieve Daniels to often. I hope Daniels stays healthy. |
Redskins add 3 more to practice squad. LB Darrel Young, WR Onrea Jones, QB Andre Woodson (last with NY Giants, this week's opponent). Hmmm.
so the practice squad has 1 QB 1 FB 2 WR 1 S 2 DL 1 LB noticeably - not one OL player. |
Re: 2009 Practice squad
Dixon flashed but, we already have an high effort player in Alexander who plays teams and OL. Daniel wants the best opportunity to start and there was less likely he was going to beat out Collins for the number two spot.
I was pleased with what I saw from Wilson. He wasn't in coverage much but rushed the passer and played the run very well. So maybe Glenn wasn't needed. |
Re: 2009 Practice squad
can anyone on this site tell me why we haven't/didn't sign Aldrige or Dorsey to the PS or where are they?

Alridge is fumbling somewhere. I wish we had kept Dorsey instead of Mason. Oh well. |
Re: 2009 Practice squad
Darn. Why do the Patriots get rid of their 29yo DTs, and we hold onto our 35 year olds like they were gold? I liked Dixon. It would have been nice to develop a young D-line with Orakpo/Jarmon/Dixon for years to come. Wynn (35) & Daniels (36) are only good for one-year at most, and Griffin is 32-33. At least Dixon is young and has potential. Too bad.
I hope Dixon sucks with the Eagles, otherwise I'd feel even worse. Wouldn't have minded if he went to the Raiders or someone else... |

You are absolutely right, didn't think about that. |

Oh well.
ya, same..but the thing is that whether we had one or the other, we have to sit 8 guys anyway, so you know they'd be sitting more than playing. I think that's the dumbest thing in the NFL is only having 53 players on a roster but playing 45 of them. SO DUMB. |
