Who's that guy that smacked Nancy Kerrigan across the leg before the Olympics? We need a guy like that to take care of Brunell.

MTK 10-18-2004 08:20 AM

I don't care who it is or if people are just joking, wishing an injury on someone isn't cool, especially one of our own players.

Sorry, I was just kidding...I would never truly wish any harm to another person. Even if he is the reason we are 2-4.
Bozzy - This Brunell deal is ALL Gibbs. I've actually heard that Snyder didn't want to write that check, but Gibbs is Jesus isn't he?

This game was absolutely pathetic and nothing to get excited for except for Smoot, Washington, Taylor, and Portis (In no particular order). Playcalling was uninspired and boring. It was conservative to a fault. Although there were signs of promise, this offense CAN NOT excel with Mark Brunell at the helm. It's not often, but I was praying for an injury.
I disagree about the playcalling. Gibbs will alwayus be somewhat conservative, but they put in some different running plays more suited for Portis, and they did take some shots down the field. It was all a matter of execution: Portis did, very well I might add, and Brunell simply did not....again.

MTK 10-18-2004 11:40 AM

Yeah I don't think the playcalling was a problem at all yesterday. In fact I thought it was much improved and the schemes were as well. We finally saw Portis getting to the outside on pitches, running out of spread formations and the line blocking similar to what Denver does.

I didn't see the game, but it's nice to see them changing on the fly like this and adapt to Portis's skill's.
Once again Snyder fucked up the QB situation. He did it before by bringing in Jeff George, and he did it again by bring in Brunell. Dan sure is the man.
Sorry Brunnel is Joe's hand-picked man.

How long is his contract?

skinsguy 10-18-2004 04:42 PM

You people have to learn paitence. With yesterday's game I noticed that playing calling has improved (because Gibbs is the man when it comes to adjustments!!!) and Portis played much better. I thnk Gibbs realized that having more "Clinton Portis" designed plays in there gave him loads of confidence and looked how it payed off! Clinton was also gaining more yards via the counter gap. If our run game continues to improve, it is going to take loads of pressure off of the passing game and in fact it will open up the passing game more. Teams are going to have to bring up more guys to plug the holes which will get the receivers downfield open! Now, MB getting the ball to those receivers is one thing, BUT the running game is what usually sets up the passing game in Gibbs' system, so we are starting to see that come together. I think we have a pretty decent chance against the Packers...even though the Packers might be slowly getting themselves out of their hole, I feel we can score against their defense! It would be nice to get another win before we play Philly, because we need the confidence.

That Guy 10-18-2004 05:02 PM

only about 7 years too long...

That Guy 10-18-2004 05:05 PM

we're going to need 20-30 points to have a shot against the packers... and we can't have the offense and ST give up 10-14 points anymore... that sucks.

SkinsRock 10-18-2004 05:28 PM
only about 7 years too long...
THAT is what we can blame on Danny, or "his people" that do the negotiating. It should have been a 4-5 year deal max that is really a 2-3 year deal, but instead it's 7 years for what's really a 4 year deal. Even if he was lighting it up, I don't think anyone expected him to be here (starting) past 2005 at the latest. Yeah, Gibbs really wanted him, but you'd think that Danny and co. would have been able to come up with a better (shorter) deal. Now if he is injured/released within the next couple years, it is money wasted against the cap.

Daseal 10-18-2004 05:54 PM

Playcalling has improved, but at times it was uninspired and boring. I should have clarified a bit more. A new blocking technique and some new run plays for Portis really helped. I just hate the "give up" plays that Gibbs seems to run from time to time on 3rd down. I really think that totally abandonning they abysmal passing game hurts the receivers and QBs morale. I want to see a balanced attack.

Brunell simply is NOT getting the job done.

VTSkins897 10-18-2004 06:17 PM

yeah what was the play when he just overthrew a wide-open coles? i mean come on... seems to me gibbs is too nice to just take brunell. he must not be ready to wholly blame #8 yet. once we start playing teams that actually have offense and our D doesn't hold up so well, then we'll need a spark on O and i'll expect to see PR in there.

skinsguy 10-18-2004 06:23 PM

Hey don't doubt our D. I believe it's for real!
