Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
I definitely think LB will be a position that should be addressed in the offseason. I think its great to have Orakpo be sort of a hybrid, but he should be spending MOST of his time on the line.
On a side note, Rocky's play has been solid all year. He hasn't earned a "mega-deal" by any stretch of the imagination, but he's certainly a guy worth extending for 3-4 years to a modest contract... assuming that he fits in with the defensive scheme we'd be using under whoever our new HC is. |
Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
the only way they will keep orakpo at dend is if we pick up merrimann next season

Rather draft Spikes at LB than see Merriman on the team. |

Spikes is more likely to go in 1st round, I believe.. Basing on our situation, I think we are going to draft a OT in 1st round.. I don't see any point why we should sign Merriman, he is good at pass rushing but I don't think he excels at coverage.. |
Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
The last 2 games that Haynesworth has missed Orakpo did not have a sack. A/H is the main reason why this team is better at rushing the passer. I also would like to see Orakpo on the edge more and put a true LB in his position that can drop into coverage.

Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
If we go with a high priced FA, I'd like an OFFENSIVE LINEMAN, not Merriman.

Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
merriman is worthless now that he is off the juice

Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
that statement is a misconception. the only reason their running numbers are close to their passing numbers is because the saints usually jump out to a huge lead. once a lead is built ,they can run the ball more often, in an attemp to run the clock down.the passing game is the strength of their offense, not the run. the saints are definately a passing team.
I totally agree. And by the same token, our Skins have often fallen behind, and had to pass more to play catch up.
The saints will dominate us with their run game... This will be the worst performance by our d this yr.. Hopefully hayneworth and hall will play bcuz we need them for this week..
I know right, and they took away our best secret weapon since Roy Williams was playing safety for the Cowboys. Man I wish Reggie Bush was playing tomorrow. ZOMG BUSH r REach out n flyz over pylon MVPz Madden omgwtfbbq!?!!?! Seriously it's like the media can not admit that they were wrong about this guy and talk about him like it's going to be a big blow to the Saints with him on the sidelines. Sure maybe he'll have a Brian Westbrook type turnaround but until that happens I don't want to hear anything concerning how great Reggie is. Right now he's an above average punt returner and reciever out of the backfield. Also for the record, I too was wrong about Bush. Crap, what were talking about? |
Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
Thank God...its on my wish list (see sig)

Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
i like orakpo but he needs to learn how to hang on to nfl qbs. too many times he has had his hands on the qb only to lose his grip and see the qb go on to make a play.

Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
Brees is tough to sack. He's got great pocket presence and he gets the ball out.

Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
Defensive Rookie of the Year goes Brian Orapko!!!Please keep him at DE full-time!!!!
|
Re: Orakpo gradually shifting to DE?
4 sacks without Haynesworth imagine him the full season at DE probably have 16 by now.

I guess this theory goes completely out the window.....No Haynesworth today and Orakpo has 4 sacks..........I do agree with you that we need a true cover LB though |
