Re: Would Shanny prefer Dallas instead?
Lets think of this logically...take the emotion out of it and the fact that we all despise the cowboys....look at it from a neutral point of view.
Who would not prefer the Dallas job? They have way more talent, they have an even larger fan base than we do...they have massive TV coverage. They have an owner that likes spending cash and has won superbowls. They have solid foundations on the lines...c''mon...they are better than the Skins in almost all categories at this point...that is why we needed a new GM and head coach in the first place. The reality is the Skins are playing as good as they can right now. The Cowboys underperform regularly...that means a solid coach could have them Superbowl contenders while a good coach for us could get us into the playoffs....think of Gibbs II...he got the most wins out of the team...then think Zorn with the same team....We needed a new GM more desperately than a new coach...the opposite is true for Dallas
Yea, take the time to think about it......Jerry would not like to give anyone any amount of control cause he likes to have total control. trust me Dallas may be one of the teams to have contacted him but he will be a Skin at seasons end |
Re: Would Shanny prefer Dallas instead?
Shanahan had a very hands off owner in Denver. JJ says he IS the GM, and Shanahan won't go for that, JJ would not give up control to BP, or Dan Reeves - in a consulting position, I can't see Shanahan going to that environment. Further, even though DS has been meddlesome, there is every indication that he wants to get away from that model, and in the past has been willing to at least share power with head coaches he respected, JG-Marty the first year - even Spurrier at first. I see no reason why Shanahan would not consider this his first best place.

Unfortunately, that is not the prevailing opinion of Dan Snyder. The Danny is #1 problem with the skins...and his meddlesome ways are the reason....and everyone knows it. At least the #2 problem is now gone |

At least the #2 problem is now gone
Well, I tend to think it is overblown, not that it is untrue, just overblown. I want to say SmootSmack has said that as well but I could be wrong. Regardless of that though, DS started to try to change that image at the press conference by stating that Bruce Allens decisions are Redskin decisions. Did he stumble, was it hard for him to say, yes and yes, but I think he is trying to impress upon Shanahan and others that he understands the concept. |

In terms of your comments on the quality of players. I would think Shanahan has enough ego to think he can fix any player related issue, so that would not be his deciding factor. And media wise, Dallas and Washington have fair shares of media attention assuming any type of competitive team. |
Re: Would Shanny prefer Dallas instead?
Maybe I've missed it but I haven't seen one person in this thread mention Bruce Allen. According to the insiders around the league, Shannahan and Allen were a packaged deal. Sure it's possible he may go somewhere else, but the fact of the matter is that Allen was virtually hand picked by Shannahan to run the front office.

True! This was mentioned once earlier in the thread but I'm glad that you magnified it. This is very important. We hold the trump card, it would seem. |
He'll go to Houston before Dallas
Maybe. But then he might be getting in the way of his son's possible promotion. I don't know if a dad will compete with a son for a job. |

There are insiders (not myself) who say that is not true, and Allen in no way guarantees Shanahan |
On December 20, 2009, celebrity news website TMZ.com reported[14] that Brittany Murphy had died in the shower of her Los Angeles home of cardiac arrest. Her mother found her, and rushed to the hospital. Mainstream media sources later confirmed the reports via the Los Angeles County Coroner's office
Re: Would Shanny prefer Dallas instead?
Smoot, what do you think the chances are we get Shanahan? Or, put another way, what are the chances Jerry Jones DOESN'T want Shanahan?
