Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
you hit the nail on the head my friend
and what alot of these people around here fail to realize is that cooley was always the drop down guy and never really involved with an offense the way sherm lewis knows how to run it. fred davis looks like a stud and i am taking nothing away from what he has done he looks great, but we have never seen cooley involved in a true working wco, the likes of which we have seen spurts of here lately and for all the guys that want to see cooley traded why wouldn't you want to see a two te set or an option with davis in the slot or cooley in coming out of the back field keep cooley for next year and then if a two te set doesn't work then you think about moving one of them most likely cooley, until then lets stop talking about trading the one last guy we have who we drafted and groomed into a elite player in the nfl
:food-smil |
Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
Davis is more athletic, but Cooley has better hands and can break more tackles. It would be nice to keep both, but if we can get enough for Cooley in a trade, I say do it. It would have to be at least a second round pick, probably more, for me to be happy with it.

Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
Cooley is an elite Tight End. Fred Davis is very good, but to trade a guy at Cooley's level is absurd, especially when he isn't a locker room distraction like D. Hall. Plus you guys are forgetting the most important part. The team takes a cap hit of $4 million if the CBA gets passed and Cooley gets traded. I'd be willing to take that kind of hit to get rid of players that don't contribute anymore but Cooley doesn't fall into that category.

Sorry, I meant Marko Jumpball Jesus Mitchell. I am an Official Fred Davis Man Crush Member. |
Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
Cooley and Davis on the field together will be sick next year. If we can only bolster the O-line, I'm still optimistic that our offense will make huge strides with Cooley and Davis creating matchup problems every week.

Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
Oh, how quickly we forget the best that we have. Cooley is a Redskin, and I can't say let's replace him just because he got hurt and Davis plays in his place. If we had Cooley right now we might be looking at different plays being called with two tight ends in the lineup. Nope, I can't agree to a trade of Cooley for a 3rd round pick!
we didnt forget, some just see Davis has better potential. take away his fan friendliness appeal, i wonder how highly regarded Cooley would be. |
Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
^^ well I agree a little bit, cooley is a very good plAyer, but just like Dallas two te's doesn't work in the NFL.. I think Bennett is a stud in the making as well and Dallas will trade him also. Getting back to 86 this guy could become our version of Antonio gates.. With shanny coming in he could use Davis like he did Shannon sharpe.

from what 6 f-ing games get real, zorn was 6-2 at the begining of last year too you remember that? davis has better pontential? i'm not saying he doesn't have upside but i'm not gonna call him the tony g after 6 games take off your homer glasses and be realistic |
Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
Yeah, who would have thought that with all the talk about Thomas and Kelly stepping up, it would be Fred Davis to show up and take this team by storm
|
Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
^^ lol players and coaches are completly different. Davis is legit we all knew zorn would be a failure. I hope we keep both but that's prob not gonna happen

am i being whooshed?? who else here think Fred hasn't really stepped up this year? |
Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
am i being whooshed?? who else here think Fred hasn't really stepped up this year?
Davis has definitely proven himself a compelling talent over the last month. Cooley's strongest asset over his 6 years is consistency. Prior to Zorn's arrival, he scored 28 TDs in four seasons, which was certainly top-5 among NFL TE's over that stretch. If Davis CONSISTENTLY produces the way he has over the past month, he will be on the short list of great TE's soon enough.

the question is, has davis stepped up or has campbell/sherm lewis finally dicided to start throwing the ball to the te more. why was marko mitchell the best thing since sliced pie during the pre-season, but hasn't done didlydo when given the chance to play during the regular season? answer.....because they actually threw the ball to him in pre-season. i think it's great that davis is showing us that he can be rilied upon to be a starting te but people come on, lets not get crazy. does anyone really think davis is a better te than a healthy chris cooley(not potentialy better) but better right know. |

yes he has but you can't say he did that all on his own, it has a huge deal to do with the play calling, huge, right now davis is pretty much the only receiver we have producing anything besides thomas, it's a different coach with different play calling utilizing different receivers. btw cooley did what davis is doing in is second year in his first year 2004 Washington Redskins gp16 gs 9 rec 37 yds 314 avg 8.5 lng 31 td 6 2009 Washington Redskins gp14 gs 8 rec 40 yds 434 avg 10.9 lng 29 td 6 again if someone could give any reasons why two te's will not work in a wco i am all ears |
Re: What if Fred started 16 games?
Fred, dude you are a man. To think, he had so much trouble in his freshman year here. Now the dude has made some of us want to get rid of Cooley. It's amazing how the kid has transformed all our perceptions of him in a few weeks. Fred is worth the second round pick as well as Thomas, but the jury is still out on MK.
