The reason we don't do a popular vote though because whole sections of the nation wouldn't be represented. We do electoral college because states like Rhode Island and Maine deserve to be counted just as much as New York, Texas and California.
And on top of that, the people are even supposed to be electing the President at all. That's the states' job. Read the Federalist papers.

ChounsMan 10-29-2004 11:30 AM

Just go out & vote. Every vote counts.

End of discussion! jk

Big C 10-29-2004 11:50 AM

i already sent in my absentee vote

SmootSmack 10-30-2004 01:23 AM

This Could Happen!

Wouldn't this be something:

Q: What if both the electoral vote for president and vice president are tied at 269?

A: The House would choose the president and the Senate would choose the vice president. In the Senate each senator would have one vote. So it is possible that if there were a Democratic-controlled Senate, it would pick John Edwards as vice president, even if the House picked George Bush as president.

I will not be voting ,I think they both suck,I voted for Nader last time and if I wouldnt have I would have voted for Bush, but not this time

BIGREDSKINFAN63 10-30-2004 07:50 PM

i loathe politics,it's only a step or two above prostitution or selling drugs in my book.

Even if you hate the Presidential candidates there are other important issues on the ballot that effect your region/area. Lot of people gave up their lives for our freedom and right to vote.............

skinsfan0201 10-31-2004 09:26 PM

Oh come on!

There is a candidate that is much better than the alternative, and it is not the one who tried to associate Al Queda with Iraq. Many other misconceptions and dishonesty have been prevalent throughout his term in office as well. And those were no small feat. I wonder why the rest of the world hates us and is begging us to change our leadership.

SkinsRock 11-01-2004 03:02 PM

The better candidate is the one that is willing to stand up for freedom, even if it isn't the popular thing to do with other nations. The alternative is to have our decisions dictated by the rest of the world. No thanks.
I do agree that as always, it is the "lesser of two evils". I cannot stand politicians.

a no vote is really just like a vote of confidence... hope you won't be whining when things don't go the way you wanted....

skinsfan0201 this thread isn't here for you to rag on bush :P their are plenty of those floating around here, but this isn't the place.

Great point, the war has consumed this election, but there are plenty of very important issues that will effect our everyday lives.

Voting is important.

....and there are a lot of our men and women dying in foreign countries so their people can have a right to vote. C'mon people, don't just throw away something that millions of people in other nations can only dream of having... the right to elect our political leaders.

Exactly!!! The only reason I'm going out to vote tommarow is because these people are doing somthing I'm not willing to do, for simple things like voting. I feel like voting is my way, a very small way of saying thank-you.

Personally I think both of these guys stink, but I'm gonna go vote because of the people fighting for it. I''m gonna vote the way I think is going to bring them home, too.

kingerock 11-02-2004 09:49 AM

I'm sure you've all seen it, but there are a couple of really funny flash animations at www.jibjab.com that you should check out. To me it sums up the public view of this election season. Can't wait till this is all over and we can get away from being "Two Americas"
