Re: For JTF's Reading Pleasure: "What is the Tea Party"
they aren't dire, since politicians are able to print the money and many other factors that keep us from being in Greece or California's situation. And we could turn it around now, if we had the political will, but like Saden said, to do it, you would have to be willing to cut SS/Medicare AND Defense, but there is no way a majority of the House will get voted in with that agenda.

Re: For JTF's Reading Pleasure: "What is the Tea Party"
Yeah those TEA Partier's are crazy. If they got into power they'd send in predator drones into Pakistan and blow up weddings. They'd drop bombs on Serbian schools. They'd lock people up without a cause and hold them forever. Why those TEA Party people they want to take us back to 1776. Why if they were in power they'd sell out our birthright to the banks. Can't have that can we!
If we're depending on polls of American citizens to determine what our financial future should be, we're in trouble. The average American household carries $5000 - 7000 in revolving (aka credit card) debt, in which the interest rate is typically 15% or higher. Pretty worthless poll. |
Re: For JTF's Reading Pleasure: "What is the Tea Party"
the poll would have been more useful if it showed the cumulative effect of an individual's selections, and only allowed votes that made a reduction of a certain amount, I don't know what number that should be.

Pretty worthless poll.
Nonsense...these people vote and don't agree on what to cut. The people they send to congress act based on the voters will. Even worse, the programs that get the least support in cutting are the ones that cost the most. Worthless poll? I think not. |

Worthless poll? I think not.
You're misunderstanding. I get that it's representative of what our country thinks. It's that our nation's citizens are downright retarded when it comes to handling money. This is one area where we shouldn't follow popular opinion. |
Re: For JTF's Reading Pleasure: "What is the Tea Party"
I would be happy, slightly, if we cut each one of those areas by the percent of people who want it cut. so 7% cut in SS, 22% cut in Defense, 71% cut in foreign aid, etc etc. It would be a start.
As for not answering the one question, that is your typical trick question. No answer, or any answer, and it would be thrown around and mutilated in the press. People know what they want to be done, but the mass media and political elite work together to run contrarian ideas through the "spin" cycle. Lotus, if it is a pure racist tendency it will die out, but what if the phrasing was not put into black/white dialogue as it gets portrayed, but instead just a simple, generic, our American culture is creating lots of people nowadays who are more willing to rely on handouts versus working hard and living within our means. Would that be more sustainable.
Obviously able-bodied people who would take a handout rather than working are parasites who drag down the economy for the rest of us while they pick our pockets. I have no problem with that part. But people of all races fit that description. And the Tea Partier in the article specifically couched things in racial terms and there have been plenty of racist signs at Tea Party rallies. That is what I was talking about. |
And what is hilarious about that is that Foreign Aid is such a minute part of the budget you could eliminate all foreign aid and not make a dent in the national debt. I'm with S10, the American people as a whole have no clue about the budget and gov't spending. |
Re: For JTF's Reading Pleasure: "What is the Tea Party"
Interesting. It's easy to point at the deficit but it ain't easy to leave countries we have invaded. We are gonna spend a trillion on the wars this year. That's is the first step to stop the defeicit. Bush never counted the wars that's why they can point and say Obama ran up the deficit. The deficit is higher simply because Obama counts the wars toward the deficit and Bush didn't.
We don't have the political will to cut spending. 1. Being the troops home, and that cuts most of the deficit right there. Almost all of it. 2. Foreign aid. Yeah cut it all. Cut that before start trying to cut Americans. Then we can talk about the rest. 65%of Israeili men do not work and having babies 4 and 5 kids. Bump that. How you gonna occupy a country and can't even feed your own kids? That's dumb, you setting yourself up for a big disappointment. Deficit solved. "The war is making you poor!!!!" |

We need to raise the Soicial Security age by 5 years. Let the flower children pay for all this debt they have caused this country to have. The Tea Party are the flower children. You can look at them and tell. They still think it's the 60's. LOL!!!! |

Re: For JTF's Reading Pleasure: "What is the Tea Party"
If you are being serious about the deficit and national debt then that's the first place you look. That is the biggest expenditure. I mean, according to the Tea Party we are about to fall. I don't agree by the way with rasing the age that much, but what I am doing is just going along with the Tea Party's main argument. We are in debt. What people should realize is the country is not about to fall, the faction that used to rule this country is about to fall. The right wing faction that lives by government careers starting wars but like Rove, Cheney, Fife and all the rest have never ever been in the millitary. That faction is meetin it's destruction. BP, thanks for the oil spill. The ruling coaliton is bleeding everyday in the gulf. Sad we had to trade the gulf for common sense.
