It was 104 yesterday in Winchester, VA. Even at midnight last night when i was watering my pumpkin plants, it was 95....crazy.
do you know whats crazy? watering your pumpkin plants at midnight! dang man, thats sounds like some fun. ive started to water my lil itty bitty backyard for the past few days. its mostly weeds and crab grass so it was nice when it wasnt raining and the weeds/grass wasnt growing so fast. now the weeds wont even sprout up and the grass is dying.

so i wait until sun drops, then go and water my lawn, the mosquitoes are vicious. im watering my tree and notice this big spider making his web which is cool, ive seen this guy before and he does good work and is a valuable allie against the sqeeters. but i notice this lil guy, same spider type as the big one, making a web lower than his and lil too close to the ground where one of my dogs could brush into his web, so i take my hose and spray about a foot underneath him just to knock his web foundation out but not kill him, well, just as i did that the big sprider comes flying right over my head inches away like he was on a zip line. i freak the funk out like a lil girl, spraying the hose on my head and clothes. i guess their webs were connected or the big spider had a foundation web line down there too.

about a month ago a huge huge fly buzzed right by my head, i watch him fly off and i swear to gosh he took a poop so big that i saw it splat on the ground like it was bird poop. never seen that before.

The last couple nights i've watered them that late because it really is the only time where you can get some kind of relief from the heat....it's better than being out when it's daylight....sad but true.

I feel sorry for you folks. I know that many of you are not used to the heat and some of you may not be fully air conditioning prepared.

That said, what you Northeastern folks call a heat wave, we here call "June, July, August, and the beginning of September."
you signed up for that. i was thinking aobut it but i thought the deal was (atleast as explained to me for balt city) - they come in and install at no charge a blocker on your AC unit so that it cant be lowered under something like 82 degrees for the summer months. during emergencies, you can lower your AC. for the 1st summer you get 100 bucks credit. for the 2nd summer you get 50 then the 3rd you get 25 bucks.

is this how it was explained to you?

ona side note BGE is telling me they need to come in and change my gas meter battery. i call and they say the technician will be in my area for these 2 certain days next month. (its baltimore, not some remote village but i digress). so i say ok, what time slots are available. she says oh no, you pick the day (from the 2 days in the next month) and then he will be there from 8-5. i tell her i cant take off a full day of work to wait on the BGE guy to change a battery. sighhhh
Basically everything you need to know is in this link. I picked the theromsat it is state of the art and I can even adjusted through the web. Like I said before I have had it two years yesterday was the first time they cycled my AC. This move has saved me at least $300 so far considering the efficentes of the theromsat and the discount to my bill.

So while everyone else is cranking up there system your sitting back in the heat sweeting because you cannot control the temp in your home. Do they have a F%#$ this button you can opt out at any given time.

My a/c still runs, it just cycles off for periods of time during the peak time. They only do weekdays, not holidays, from 1 to 7. Again they have only done it once to my house otherwise it has run as normal. It is not for everyone if you are set it at 65 type of person and will die if it ever gets hotter then it is not for you.

My house at 78- 80 for a couple hours doesn't bother me. normally I have it at 75 anyway.

Sorry to answer your question you can opt out twice a summer.

I think and I maybe guessing but since I live in the burbs they rarely go to it but B-more city itself they use it more often; more people bigger impact.

yeah i think in the city, from what ive been told on 2 occassions, your themostat is set for the entire summer months, not cycled like yours is. i was also told you get $100 the 1st summer, 50 the next, 25 the third . . . not the 300 plus you have saved. sounds like balt city folk are getting screwed as usual from BGE.

Here is the breakdown for everyone.

So I did 75% I have saved in 2 years $225 in discounts but I have saved even more by having an advanced thermostat, it is like a mini-computer on your wall. Since I put it in if I compare any month that I didn't have it to a month that I did have it (winter or summer) I have saved on an average of 15% off my bill.

I guess you can add the $140 to my savings as well since this came free.

I can adjusted it over the internet if I want to.

Really the program is a no brainier.
