Re: Redskins Learn Nuances of Cut-Blocking
If it works, it will under Shanny, you will love it but I would suggest watch out for Brady "his Rule" and Billy boy. Those two are something else when it comes to rule making and rule breaking, honest opinion - no smack intended!

Re: Redskins Learn Nuances of Cut-Blocking
Lose to Bears and Titans? That's a bit crazy.

Re: Redskins Learn Nuances of Cut-Blocking
That'd be great Ace...but not sure what it really has to do with cut-blocking

Astute deduction. |

As soon as Shanny's Zone Cut Block scheme sweeps ESPN's Cowboys all the way to the superbowl..we can expect a rule change to be instituded. l
There already might be.Last night in the Giants game there a few holding calls and Gruden caught the fact the there are 2 officials in the Offensive backfield now watching the linemen. There is not much of a difference between a chop and a cut but how would you feel if it wipedout Orakpo(sp) or Haynsworth bet it would be dirty then. |
Re: Redskins Learn Nuances of Cut-Blocking
I think it is only fair...if you are going create so many rules to protect the offensive 'stars' and to create offense like horse collar, Brady rule, hits to the head and legalizing certain forms of holding, turn around is only fair play.
If we see a rash of season ending knee injuries directly attributed to cut blocks, it is only fair to pass a rule. To say the rule will get passed only because of our possible success is silly. |
Re: Redskins Learn Nuances of Cut-Blocking
Shanahan learn that technique from Bob McKittrick old OL coach from the 49ers (dead). Just ask Howie Long how he liked it? He once threatened McKittrick to kick his ass because of it.
The NFL is a copy-cat league, seeing the success Shanahan's offenses' have had with this particular scheme, is there any wonder why more teams don't utilize it? |

.....becuase it's questionable. |

Then you would say it's fair to asume it won't make many friends among the leagues defenders? |
Re: Redskins Learn Nuances of Cut-Blocking
Im not a fan of cut blocking for all the obvious reasons.

Re: Redskins Learn Nuances of Cut-Blocking
I have been anti Alex Gibbs for a long time because of this scheme. But I also have hated Donovan McNabb. I'm enough of a win-whore to cast aside my disdain and root for both this year if it means the team is doing well.

Re: Redskins Learn Nuances of Cut-Blocking
Every team utilizes cut blocking to some degree. Some more than others.
I'm in favor of whatever works. |
