I would agree with WR, C, DE and DT. I think we are ok at blocking TE with Royal, OG with Thomas and Dockery and SS Ryan Clark. He doesn't get beat like a drum, also known as Matt Bowen. I would like to jettison Gardner and draft Mike Williams.

bowen fits williams system so well though... if only he could cover he'd be a perfect fit...

redwagonskins 11-29-2004 02:12 PM

This is going to be a weak draft this year. The core players on our team need to be sorted out over the next few weeks so the organization can be very specific in the offseason in addressing the needs. You have to play to win. Let the 49ers and Fish fight over Leinart and Williams.

HTTR9 11-29-2004 03:19 PM
Even if they finished 8-8 that usually equals a top 20 or even top 15 pick.

I don't see that happening though, I see them finishing 6-10 at best.
6- 10? I'm as optimistic as the next, but I think a review of the remaining games spells 4 - 12 tops. They should beat the 49ers. Does a Rothlisberger type exist?
a mid-major QB we can steal in the draft?

JWsleep 11-29-2004 03:36 PM

Build a positive, winning attitude, and evaluate who the "Core Redskins" are on this team. Absolutely no way Gibbs would EVER tank a game, btw.

HTTR: C'mon! Are the Giants and Cowboys really that good, in your opinion? The Gints are 5-6 and have lost a bunch in a row, have big time injuries, and a rookie QB; the boys are 4-7 and very unsettled. We could well win both those games. Of course, we need to play better than we have, but they are winable, and 6-10 is very realistic. I hold out hope of 7-9, meaning we upset either the iggles or vikes. But 6-10 would be a nice finish, given that we're 3-8.

MTK 11-29-2004 03:37 PM

I think we have a realistic shot at beating the Giants, Cowboys and 49ers.

Notice I said 6-10 at best.

I think we have a shot at beating the Vikings too. How great would that be? By the time the Vikings come to play us, they'll probably be in the wildcard race. We could play the role of spoiler that game....don't you guys think? That would be a nice way to end the season...

Gibb's will be playing for pride but I am rooting for draft pick's. :biggthump

Sometimes you have to go backward's to go forward, we can generate plenty of optimism to build off of with a great draft! Talk to Carolina, Kansas city, Dallas, Seattle, or St. Louis about building momentum from 1 season to the next.

Big C 11-29-2004 04:24 PM

yeah but i always want to see the redskins win

Redskins_P 11-29-2004 04:32 PM

If we win 4 out of the last 5, we'll go 7-9 and still be able to get a decent draft pick....maybe in the teens or something.

But whats more important for me right now is beating the Giants and getting a damn win in our division for once!

Redskins_P 11-29-2004 04:40 PM

Heres a scenario:

We have our 1st, 4th, 6th, and 7th round picks right? (please correct me if I'm wrong)

1. Trade Gardner to 49ers for their 3rd round pick

2. Trade Samuels (if he doesn't restructure) to Carolina for their 2nd round pick

Draft either a WR or DE in the 1st. Grab a Center or WR in the 2nd. Draft another interior O-lineman in the 3rd, and get a QB in the 4th.

Rocks lighter and not quite the same guy he was last year.

I don't see us taking the foot off the gas and coasting the year in but maybe auditioning is taking place as we speak. Could explain the longer look Betts is getting and might tell us why there seems to be little rush to get proven players back, although that may be a very real reason in that the players are really hurt. If we start to see more Taylor and McCants and less Coles or Gardner then it could be said we are getting ready for next year but so be it . At least if we can remain competitive and figure out what we have to build on it would be something to take from the season but don't play for a draft pick. We finish where we finish hopefully I would say we were 6-10 top ten choice and go out fighting like we have done in every game this year.

I don't know why everyone keep's harping on a defensive end, our D-has been fine and will only get better with Lavar back in the fold next year, that will give us another player to get after the QB. We have to upgrade our line, if we do that and can actually run the ball and force team's to over committ to stopping the running game that will open it up for the passing game, we will then find that our WR's are more than adequate, we defiently have to deal down with our #1 in so doing we can get a center or an O-lineman that we can convert, if there is an impact wr in the second rd we should have enough for him whomever it is and another O-lineman, then we can try to address the rest of our need's with what should be enough draft pick's. A 2 for Samuels, and a 3 for Gardner wishfully plus dealing out of the top 10 should net us a decent draft, the way our line is blocking I don't see us any lower than #5 pick in the draft.

I agree. I dont think Minnesota is going to melt down as bad as they have in years passed, they NEVER play well outdoors in the cold. Seriously, if the game was in Minnesota, I wouldnt give us a prayer, but they SUCK in the cold. I think we can win that game too.

Daseal 11-29-2004 09:44 PM

Honestly. Leaving this season on a small winning streak could really mean a lot to our guys attitude. You never play for a draft pick, you gotta keep your troops going!
