[quote=GTripp0012;761683]The inherent advantage in putting Heyer at guard could be that he's right next to the center, which could help to limit his chronic false starts. GT, you've always said he's been the most consistent o linemen this year. I am surprised though that you say he's above avg. I always thought he was a decent pass blocker but not very good at run blocking & blocking downfield.

I would also guess that he's not strong enough ideally to play guard & w/his problems in getting his center of gravity lower, it would seem he'd get mauled by strong, quick DTs & NGs the way Rabach does.

Make it permanent like they did with Leonard Davis.

Exactly.

I have been in general a supporter of his this year. I think if he has to start 16 games at tackle you're line is in trouble. If he is your primary backup and gets spot duty then he is valuable guy. Maybe he isn't a top 30 tackle but he is in the next 30 probably.

I was definitely suprised by the great job our backups did against Tennessee, especially on the interior of the offensive line. It wasn't just Heyer that came in and did well, Montgomery played well at center and Lichtensteiger didn't have a bad game either. Huge props to them because yesterday was one of those rare times when McNabb had plenty of time to throw, at least when he wasn't tripping on their feet or slipping on the Titan's crappy field.
