Re: 79th Pick: Leonard Hankerson - WR - Miami
..Or his name lol.
Kelly's gone now cause of us drafting LH. Hankerson btw is one of the steals of the draft, IMO. He can make some nice catches.
I don't think so. We are too thin at WR otherwise. If MK can be healthy, we'll keep both. Of course, if MK can't be healthy, he's gone, Hankerson or not. |
Not a 'showboater' either. Scores a TD, acts like it's no big deal. I like it.
I don't care about celebrating Touchdowns. Actually I prefer it when guys celebrate scores. It creates energy and excitement which in many cases helps add to any momentum generated. What I HATE, absolutely hate, is when guys run away from teammates and/or ignore them to perform some stupid premeditated routine (and yes I understand the excessive celebration penalties, but you're still allowed to hug teammates, high five each other, and even do a chest bump or two on your way back to the sidelines. Genunie emotion and excitement is great during celebrations. Weird dances and ignoring teammates is not (great). Like this. Not only do you take your sweet ass time getting to the end zone but then you go with that dance? [YT]Rxf4LsjJ7Z8[/YT] |
Re: 79th Pick: Leonard Hankerson - WR - Miami
I firmly believe this was a great value pick. I"m stoked about having another WR threat not named Galloway or Roydell on our team.

Re: 79th Pick: Leonard Hankerson - WR - Miami
I like what Sporting News Draft Magazine had on his interview:
Bottom Line: Hankerson started two years at Miami and had a dominant senior year, breaking Michael Irvin's record for receiving touchdowns in a season (13). He continued his solid play during the Senior Bowl, where he had a game-high 99 receiving yards and a touchdown. He should go late in the first or early in the second and will be a first-year starter as a pro, provided Hankerson can improve his route-running consistancy. They asked him .... Q-What do you say to your detractors who don't believe you have the necessary speed to make it in the NFL? A-I'll say one thing: I don't know if I've ever been caught from behind. This was an awsome pick. I know many won't want to want the team to jump on another WR since we need NT, OL, and possibly CB or FS. I would totally understand, but there are still other WR's on the board with similar size and speed to Hankerson who might be a good thought... Owen Spencer Niles Paul Terrence Toliver James Cleveland Tandon Doss Darvin Adams Keith Smith Ryan Whalen Tori Gurley Carl Moore again I know you all will think I'm Vinny, but we are talking about our new WR and I figured I'd just throw some other names out there who are of similar height, weight and speed. I'm not saying we have to grab another just pointing out that there are others maybe just as good. Maybe burn a late draft pick on one or look to see if any are UDFA's to invite to camp to try out. |

Re: 79th Pick: Leonard Hankerson - WR - Miami
@SBXXVI - From looking at the draft thread yesterday everyone likes the pick. They traded down, got additional picks, and drafted a productive hard working kid that not only fills a positional need at receiver, but an overall team need of another red zone threat.
If they had used a second round pick on a receiver I would have been a little more hesitant but a 3rd round pick on a guy that had a late first early second grade? Count me in. A Vinny draft happens, when trench players are only drafted in the late late rounds, and thats if you're lucky. In fact the only way Vinny drafts trench players is if they have pretty numbers he can look up like sacks, 40's, and bench press. Jenkins, a selfless space eater, for example wouldn't have even been on Vinny's board. |
Re: 79th Pick: Leonard Hankerson - WR - Miami
I'm all for OL. My take... we need a C, and RT. I think building that foundation will go a mile with our OL being more stable. So having said that I'd probably take atleast 2 OL before the draft ends.
On Redskins.com the article on Jarvis Jenkins, MS said Jarvis would be used at DE. To me that means we still need a NT. So I'd take 1 NT if there is one available. Obviously it would be nice to pick up a CB because who know what will happen with Carlos and maybe a FS to pair with Atogwe, god forbid he hurts himself and we are yet again left without a backup. Just to please some of you I'd even be willing to go RB. After all this we've used 6 picks and still have 4 more. Why not take another WR? Heck they might just rule out injury prone Kelly. Unless they are thinking about going FA if and when that opens up. Then I'd take more OL perhaps Guards. |
Re: 79th Pick: Leonard Hankerson - WR - Miami
Micheal Lombardi drew a mild comparison between our draft strategy and the Pats, calling it Patriots light.
If we can nail the rest of these picks, I think I can find it my heart to forgive Shanny for last year and wipe the slate clean. Because he's so worried about what I think of him. |
Re: 79th Pick: Leonard Hankerson - WR - Miami
And don't forget we picked up O.J. Atogwe this offseason and I'm sure we're going to add one or two notable FAs.
I think the Cowboys are going to release Marion Barber this year, anybody think we should look at him? |

Re: 79th Pick: Leonard Hankerson - WR - Miami
I like that he has the biggest hands of WRs.

Re: 79th Pick: Leonard Hankerson - WR - Miami
All I gotta say is GREAT PICK!!!!!!!!!!! This guy is a football player. I don't care about his 40 speed, this isn't a track meet. Hankerson is going to be productive. He reminds me of Hakeem Nicks.
