Classless b*...oh wait.
Hmmm, Mr Tryon went from the Redskins TO the Colts. Mr Smith went from the Colts to the Redskins. BOTH noted the difference in how they approach their job. Folks, this may not be a true peer review, but it's two independent mouths talking here. Maybe that culture thing Willie Parker was talking about wasn't so ridiculous after all.
Agreed. Theres something up with this team to have talent like we do, and coaches like we do, to play awful year after year |
Maybe you could point out that part where I questioned your...Redskin...hood and provided the subsequent amusement???
To cut to the chase, review your own posts and you will soon see you have basically condemned the Skins (including this year, although you do waffle) to NFL purgatory...forever? I basically do not disagree with much of what you say regarding years that have gone by nor do I believe the SKins will be a contender this year or next for that matter....so much for Kool aid consumption. NOTE: I do expect them to do so under the current regime. Where I do differ is that there appears to be much to be positive about this year and if the start of this year is any indicator, for years to come with MS/BA. Time will certainly tell. Just stating the obvious.
Yeah, I'm with Hog with this one. I understand where you're coming from Fanatic but, your point of view on this upcoming season sounds like you've already seen it before. We drafted 12 players, Beck may be starting QB. I've NEVER seen redskins draft so purposefully before; at least that's different, get an influx of new blood in the locker room, with that said, obviously we won't be contenders but HS did say he sensed a culture shift towards the end of his time....lets hope he was right. |

Allen clarifies 'aggressive' free agency remarks
Asked if he could assure Redskins fans that this would not mean a return to the way the team has operated in the past, trying to buy a championship and ending up with teams that were old, expensive and without much success, Allen emphatically said: “No, we’ve dealt with that.” “I think the draft is our statement of our game plan,” Allen said. “We added 12 players who are going to infuse youth into every position on our team.” Allen clarifies 'aggressive' free agency remarks Words I love to hear |

Re: Hunter Smith On Difference Between Redskins And Colts
Colts have possibly closed their window with average drafting the last few years. I mean Anthony Gonzalez in the first round?

Can't really disagree with him.
LaVar Arrington is like thermite is to combustion. Since he left here as a player he has taken every conceivable opportunity to jab the organization, or echo anyone he can coerce into doing likewise. It's plain to feel his energy radiate throughout the interview.
Smith appears to be a stand up guy that did his best with pointed questions. Not much room for fault in his evaluation based on the short time he was here. Me-guys and we-guys in comparison, there's probably room for a little more detail on that one.
Then why is it that the Redskins haven't had any kind of success in the last 10-15 years? some of what he is saying must be true |
Re: Hunter Smith On Difference Between Redskins And Colts
I once asked Charles Mann...hold on, while GTripp picks up the name I just dropped...back in the mid 90s "Charles, what was it like playing for two of the best teams of the past 15 years?" Granted, he was with the 49ers for only year (1994)
"Night and day...night and day. 49ers facilities were a 100% times better. Families were better taken care of by the organization. There was more structure in the administration. Players held each other accountable. No comparing playing for the Redskins and 49ers" "But you won 3 rings with the Skins?" "And I loved it. And I love Joe Gibbs. But if we had what the Niners had we would have won at least 2 more" So it's interesting that this has been said even back then. That said though, Mann is one of the most straight laced guys I know |

Yes we did do an actual draft this year. Had 12 picks, which is OUT OF THE NORM for this organization. I am not dooming and glooming this team. It is a fact that this team poo poo's on the draft. Just like you said you have NEVER seen them draft with a purpose like this before. Basically what I am saying is, I want to hold judgement on this "new" way of doing things and wait to see if this (which is what I have been screaming for for the last 6 years) will become the normal offseason for us, or will this be scrapped in two years and start over again, which is what has been normal for this team. We have said every time a new coach comes in here, its a culture change from Marty, to Steve, to Joe and to Zorn. I honestly hope this year is different. I am not going to base our success on wins and losses. I want to see development of our young guys, and some guys step up and take positions and put their footprints on this team. With that said, I think we have enough talent on this team to compete with a lot of the NFC teams this year. Only one position is the questions mark, as is most every year in DC, the QB. I honestly think that Shanny will try and work out a trade or sign a FA veteran to put some wins up this year. Hasselback, Bulger, or Palmer (for picks) stand out to me. Which isn't a bad idea for Shanny. I think there is a ton of pressure on him this year even though the "rebuild" word is being tossed around. I think he has to be .500 or a game better to show progress in Danny's eyes. I just dont see him being patient, especially if we only win a few games. (which why the hell are we suppose to be the worst team in the NFL next year) |
Re: Hunter Smith On Difference Between Redskins And Colts
You've got to wonder if there's a big of a chicken/egg thing here. The Colts have been one of the most successful organizations in the NFL over the past decade. Such success would breed good morale and positive attitudes.
