I am......really looking forward to the compressed signing period and the ensuing frenzy. It should be like a second draft.....more or less.

I agree but I think it will be hard on the players. They'll potentially be moving, finding new schools for kids, etc., while also starting training camp. Then they'll play their first game with guys that they met only a couple of weeks before. However, such is the nature of the beast this year.

Players? Bah! Bunch of multi-millionaires playing a game. Who cares about their feelings?

Seriously though, I'm certainly sympathetic to their plight. But as a fan of the sport, with no real regard for the people playing, I'm thrilled about the shortened off-season

Knowing their lifestyle and income I can only be somewhat sympathetic.
No one is forcing them to take that job, its what they want to do.

Free agency flowing directly into camps is pretty cool. Now we don't have three months of wondering how new players fit into the system, we get to see them right away.

One thought is about preseason games this year, will we see regulars playing longer since they need reps or less to protect the investments?

I've been thinking about that too, the preseason games will be more important than ever.

Matty:

That is setting the bar awfully low since the exhibition games have never been remotely important in the past...

Preseason is about talent evaluation at its purest.
You see the players one on one without the benefit of scheme to hide flaws.

Watching preseason can give you a glimpse into the future.

You make a good point about preseason games this year. I have no idea how the coaches will handle them but I am a bit concerned about how little time the Redskins coaches wil have to make player evaluations and integrate new players into the team.

I'm guessing that the veterans may need more reps in preseason, any FA starters we add will certainly need the reps, and, at the moment, we have twelve rookies and will probably add some more. I'm wondering how much chance the rookies are going to have to show enough in preseason games to make the team.

I dunno, maybe it's not an issue for the coaches. They might handle the preseason the way they always have and let the chips fall where they may.

Well, I wouldn't quite say that. In the past they were more important for evaluating your backups and bubble guys. Now they're going to be more focused on getting your starters tuned up and ready to play.

But you don't need the preseason to look into the future if you have a crystal ball...

Any predictions on where Reggie Bush would end up?

Reports are that the Dolphins are interested, but I think he'd be dangerous if he teamed up with Peyton Manning on the Colts. They're probably losing Addai so they could use another RB and could line him up all over the field as a RB, slot WR, etc.

If he wants to make a big impact, I think he should go there. Manning has Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark already...and Harrison was consistently reliable before them, but he's never had a player that explosive to give the ball to. It could be fun to watch.

From what i hear Dolphins are the only major takers of Bush. May make Henne better with having one of the best third down receivers (Devone Bess) and Bush plus Marshall again. Also may prevent Daniel Thomas from being severely over worked.

The Colts are probably going after the top offensive lineman available, as that is their biggest need right now. I doubt they would pony up anything to draft someone like Bush. I think there will be plenty of FA RBs for them to acquire to replace Addai.
