Re: Giants CB likely out for season with torn ACL vs Bears preseason MNF game.
Tripp, I don't think the Giants front seven is anymore talented than the Redskins at this point. The only thing separating us from the better front sevens in the NFL is playing time together.
Not sure about that. Pierre Paul is a physical freak. Once Osi gets back I think they still have a pretty good front 7. Do we have 3 guys that are as good as Tuck, Paul and Osi? We'll see. |

Well, that's their front three. And yes, we'll see. I like what we got in our front seven. |
No Kevin Boss or Steve Smith either...but maybe Devin Thomas!
He looked pretty good as a return man. Maybe he's found his nitch? Kind of like Desmond Howard! I think the Giants, like Pittsburgh, really believe in the guys they draft. Rookie TE steps in for Boss as well as Cruz for Smith. |

I have a tough time believing that -- the only real dominating presence in our front 7 right now is Rak IMO whereas the blue men have Tuck, Osi, Kiwanuka, and Canty. |
Re: Giants CB likely out for season with torn ACL vs Bears preseason MNF game.
The G-men definitely still have a great D line, even after losing Cofield. They've got a lot of adversity to deal with, including Osi's unhappiness. Coughlin will have to do a great job to get that team together. Offensively, they are a real unknown w/that line.
I'm not saying we'll have a winning season, but I think we can finally beat the G-men in week 1. |

Well Tuck is definitely awesome, but Osi is injured and frankly not what he used to be due to age. Canty is a nice player but definitely not dominant, I'd equate him to Bowen. Kiwanuka is a nice OLB but he doesn't scare me. The Giants still have a great pass rush but Canty is their most accomplished defensive tackle. The loss of Barry Cofield has left a gaping hole in the middle of their line. Further, Osi, Tuck, and Pierre-Paul are pass rushing monsters but don't scare anyone from a run-stuffing standpoint. The Giants can still rush the passer with the best of them but this year they are very vulnerable to being run on. |
Re: Giants CB likely out for season with torn ACL vs Bears preseason MNF game.
Tough break to lose one of your best players.

Total speculation, but it wouldn't surprise me to see the Giants talk to Kelvin Hayden, who's still out there

Re: Giants CB likely out for season with torn ACL vs Bears preseason MNF game.
I didn't say the Giants front seven sucked, but I keep hearing Osi this and that. There's a reason the Giants allowed his situation to drag on. He's lost a step and has been injured.
We'll see how dominant they are without Barry Cofield in the middle. Just saying, we'll see. |

....also what I'm hearing. |
Re: Giants CB likely out for season with torn ACL vs Bears preseason MNF game.
Amukamara is gimpy, Thomas is done for the year...the first game of the season just got a lot easier for the Redskins' starting QB.

Since coming into the league, Cofield has missed one game in five years. That's pretty durable. |

I like Banks and all but let's be honest, his value is diminished since the NFL moved kickoffs to the 35. He still has plenty of value on punt returns but not so much on kickoffs. |

Was thinking the same thing, but do they have the money for him. |
