Re: Dolphins Work Out Clinton Portis...Decide Instead to Sign Larry Johnson
I wonder if health is a concern with his multiple concussions last season. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone though, CP had a lot of wear and tear here. This probably has nothing to do with his abilities I would say, it's just that he's worn out, plain and simple.
I don't think he had issues with the concussions last year, it was the groin, detached from the bone *shudders* |

Re: Dolphins Work Out Clinton Portis...Decide Instead to Sign Larry Johnson
This could spell the end for CP, guy's had a good career and has already surpassed the life of the average player at his position. All things come to an end.

Re: Dolphins Work Out Clinton Portis...Decide Instead to Sign Larry Johnson
With the reports from NE saying that CP was really out of shape for his workout it leads me to believe that CP didnt really expect any teams to call.
LOL. The Dolphins.
They let Ricky Williams walk so that they could sign...Larry Johnson. lol |
Re: Dolphins Work Out Clinton Portis...Decide Instead to Sign Larry Johnson
Physically we all know CP has been through a lot of wear & tear, but at this point he may have lost the will to do all he needs to to get back in shape. He was never into practice. I won't fault him at this point if he's lost the will to play & doesn't have the drive to get in shape. It would be a good time for him to hang it up, he's had a great career & gave us some good memories.

Listening to Steve and Andy on 980, they are saying he is....WAY over weight.

Re: Dolphins Work Out Clinton Portis...Decide Instead to Sign Larry Johnson
In order for CP to keep his career going at his age, he really couldn't afford to let himself get out of shape. It's over for the guy. There isn't a market in the NFL for old RB's that are injury prone that don't like to practice. I wish the dude well. He was a baller.

:laughing-
Sign Portis for the costumes Wait a minute, Clinton Portis was still in the league last year? Who knew? Obviously I am kidding -- sorta -- but Portis seems like the oldest 29-year-old in NFL history (he turns 30 on Sept. 1) and it is kind of hard to imagine that he has anything left to offer other than some hilarious characters. Portis should be signed for that reason alone. But if last year was the last time we saw Portis play, I wish him well and hope he invested all of that money he earned at the University of Miami.
|
Re: Dolphins Work Out Clinton Portis...Decide Instead to Sign Larry Johnson
CP carried the offense through some very tough seasons and IMO he deserves our respect. It's sad to see fans dismiss what he did in a Skins uniform.
Best wishes Portis :) |

The hell with that. He also threw his teammates and coaches under the bus. Got preferred treatment and ran to Snyder when things didn't go his way. Sat out of practice while others busted their ass. Ran his mouth on public radio shows and made total jackass comments. He was a prime character in this culture we grew to hate. I for one am glad he's gone regardless of what he's done. I (and many others) might feel a bit different had all the things I listed not transpired. Good riddance. |

Good riddance.
this. cp was an idiot, and acted like a total douchebag most of these idiot players from the hood act like. had a chance to show he was a true professional, instead, he just fell right on in line, since he always garnered attention for the stupid ass things he said. great running back, fvcking POS person. |
Re: Dolphins Work Out Clinton Portis...Decide Instead to Sign Larry Johnson
Clinton Portis while immensely talented and a fierce competitor on gameday, never gave 100% commitment to the team--more like 85%. He stubbornly turtled in preseason(I don't see Hightower or Helu doing so) and sometimes exercised a lack of prudence over the air.
