Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
Irrelevant. They are still choosing to fork the money over, knowing full well what they're buying.
Truth, what I hate most is when they complain about not being able to recoup their money for the games that they dont attend, like it is some right |
newly married?
7 years in. I watch crap like the real housewives and hgtv in exchange for football season. Usually is the skins are winning I'm successful. This year should be great!!!!!! |
I did tone it down quite a bit. When we were dating she used to watch the games with me. At one point she asked what jersey number did "are you effing kidding me" wear.
Now she finds stuff to do during the game and just checks in during halftime. |
Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
Don't most teams rest their starters in the fourth preseason game? I think the price for each preseason game should be different, with the highest price being the 3rd preseason game. Of course, there is no way in hell that will happen.
But because of the Irene Giants had to play 2 games within 72 hours. It totally messed up their practice schedule. We will see if it has consquences for them next week! |
Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
I would rather watch from the house. Comfy seat, internet to see what's going on elsewhere in the league, HDTV, and I can try to talk my wife into sex at halftime.
I thought ...." what happens in Vegas , Stays in Vegas" ? :) It is nice to have food , drinks friends and women at home during the game/s ! |
Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
The idea of paying for preseason tickets is idiotic. I would only go to those games if the tickets are free.
Btw, yesterdays game was practically empty so there are some intelligent fans out thete. |
Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
There were 3 dollar tickets on stubhub
|
The main thing that keeps me from going to the game is location. Landover MD sucks. Its far away, traffic on 495 is horrible and you can't do anything in landover after the game.
If the stadium were in dc I would not mind going to a preseason game for a reasonable price . |

Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
would you be happier if they just raised the regular season ticket prices and told you the pre-season is free, or raised the price of beer and hot dogs a little, or parking or merchandise.
either way there going to get your money. |

 Still can't believe it was called Raljon. And I'll second the statement about Landover being a crappy place to have the stadium. There isn't anything to do out there besides go to the game. |
Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
I agree to a certain extent but some people scrimp and save for the money to buy these tickets
If you are scrapping to save money for tickets, chances are high that you really can't afford them to begin with. We can't ask our politicians to be fiscally responsible if we can't even do it ourselves.
Truth, what I hate most is when they complain about not being able to recoup their money for the games that they dont attend, like it is some right
A good many of tickets holders probably cannot truthfully afford to be a season ticket holder and sell tickets of games to gain or recoup money back. These are the people that probably can't afford to go and probably have no business having season tickets. Better off just buying single game tickets to the ones you want to go to.
would you be happier if they just raised the regular season ticket prices and told you the pre-season is free, or raised the price of beer and hot dogs a little, or parking or merchandise. either way there going to get your money.
I don't get that whole marketing deal by the NFL. Why not just slap a $25 (or free) price on preseason tickets and transfer the rest to the regular season tickets? If you made preseason tickets free, the cost of tickets would go up $25 for each of the 8 home games. I keep hearing season ticket holders say they are at their limit in terms of paying more for season tickets and they are dropping them if they get continue to climb. Mind you, these were the same people that were in front of the line paying out season ticket invoices during a lockout when it wasn't even known if there was going to be a season. |
Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
The preseason is a ripoff but it's never gonna change. Only chance I have as a season ticket holder to pair down those losses is with the 18 game schedule. With an 18 game schedule there is only 1 preseason game to pay for which is not to bad. Either way though I will continue to buy the season tickets and every year when i send in my money i am doing it knowing that the preseason is included so really this is a non issue. No one forces us to buy anything...

Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
This whole thing really seems crazy to me, in France, even for a finale, nobody on earth would put more than 200 € ( about 280 $ ) in a ticket... in the regular season one team owner made a "buy one ticket, get one free for your girlfriend" offer...
Wow a French Skins fan, now that is really cool. Do you have a French gf? |
Re: This is why forcing fans to buy pre-season tix is a scam
I feel kind of bad for Pats fans who were forced to buy full priced tickets to tonights pre-season Giants/Pats game.
The Giants who are playing their 2nd pre-season game in less than 72 hrs are resting all their starters while the Pats plan to do the same. It's a total joke. I was hoping that the contract negotiations would lead to the NFL eliminating 1 or 2 of the preseason games. 4 pre-season games is WAY too many and does nothign other than line NFL owners pockets.
That is the whole point, to line the owners pockets. The NFL is a business first and foremost. They know they have you hooked, and like any monopoly can charge you what and how they want. They will get theirs in the end though. They are already outpricing themselves out of the entertainment market. Once the middle class gets fleeced with this double dip recession/depression coming upon us, nobody is going to go to a NFL game. I can get season tickets to both my alma maters football seasons for less than $70. Granted with Eastern Mich the level of football stinks, but it is a lot cheaper than what the Skins and co. charge, plus I can go to Ann Arbor after the game only a mile away. |
