I've had some sleeping issues in the past, but working out/running helps quite a bit.

Agreed. After a run I always sleep like a log that night.

Avoiding caffeine later in the day helps too. I like to have a cup of coffee after dinner, now I go with decaf.

I'll drink to that.

Tried a glass of wine. Same results. Drinking enough to knock me unconscience for the entire night pretty much involves a bottle of Jack Daniels/Jim Bean and leaves me at less than peak performance the following day.

Marijuana fights insomnia. Valerian can help you you want to take a legal herb.
BTW- Anyone complaining about lack of sleep that is in college needs to get over it. College life is so easy. Really you are in the pre-school part of starting real life. Wait until you have a job (career one) and kids then you will be at full steam.
Agreed. Things aren't as cut and dry as that.

Yeah. College was (is) the worst part of regular life to me. I love having the 9-5, no homework, no bullshit reading, no bullshit assignments, etc.

I agree with the people about running/working out. For me, running makes me sleep pretty heavy. That said, I have to run in the morning. In the evening it just gives me more energy!

I never feel rested after I have any alcohol. Even 1-2 drinks make my sleep restless.

I'm with you there Daseal. I never get good sleep with alcohol in me. I wake feeling like I had just fallen asleep.

Sometimes if I have a glass of wine with dinner, I can get away with it but anything else means a long day ahead tomorrow.

:bump:

Raise your hand if it's 7:30, you're still awake and just now getting tired but unfortunately your alarm just went off because you gotta get up for work. Lame.

"raises hand"

F insomnia.

i luckily dont have sleep problems. my body literally starts shutting down around 10-11 at night and i got about 2 mins to get in bed before i collapse.

ive started reading in bed too but thats really just a reason to get away from the cranky preger who roams the basement entertainment room at night.

when i drink i get all pumped up and cant stop or sleep until i get hammer time, usually spend all night watching lebowski or something after the bars close.

i must say, with this baby on the way i dont miss the green at all. been 3 months without after 20 years or so of everyday all day . . . next step is cigarettes which i have to quit or atleast make a doctors appt for by monday.

i do feel sorry for people with insomnia, that movie was pretty good. maybe one day ill develop some problems along the line.

Ugh, so lucky. Enjoy it, truly.

@OTM: Just wait until the baby comes, I'm sure you'll treasure these days more than you can imagine.

@Matty: Well on the bright side, I was sleeping like a baby after long night + work. Sure I didn't go out with my friends but at least it was one of those sleeps where you're so exhausted nothing can wake you up, including 3 calls and a few texts from friends wondering what the deal is haha.

I've always been a night owl, but never suffered from insomnia. Occasionally when I'm wide awake and I know I need to get to bed, or when I can't sleep at all, I'll pop a melatonin. Safe, all natural, and one 2mg pill and I'm out like a light.
