Wasn't it just one sack yesterday? And that came off of Young missing a block.
Young's primarily at fault, but because we were in a slide right with Niles Paul on the edge of the line, and Niles didn't chip and left Young in a bad spot. Just a breakdown by inexperienced players. And JPP crushing Grossman unblocked.

Nope, but they're definitely playing much better than I think we all expected.

At the very least our depth looks good, and that's always a positive. And who knows, maybe at least one of these young guys will be ready to step in and start next year. Jammal Brown seems very replaceable.

Have to love the way this unit has held together the last 2 weeks w/its best player out. Some good signs for sure, but I still think interior OL early (rnds 2-3) + RT in later rounds would be draft picks well spent.

Smith went against Andre Carter last week, he had a rough start at first giving up a sack but after that he controlled him. Yesterday he faced Pierre-Paul who has 12.5 sacks and is currently the Giants best pass rusher and controlled his ass. I agree 2 games is not enough to make an assessment, but I have a very good feeling about Smith and his intangibles.

The coach praised the play of rookie left tackle Willie Smith, who went up against Giants’ lineman Jason Pierre-Paul. The coach said there were obvious mistakes and growing pains, but said he’s encouraged by Smith’s development.

Read this:

[B]A two-year starter at left tackle, Smith is a remarkable athlete with a lot of upside. He earned All-Conference USA honors each of the past two seasons, and might have a higher ceiling than any tackle prospect in the 2011 NFL Draft.

At this point in his development, Smith is too raw and inconsistent to project as a rookie starter in the NFL. Some offensive line coach is likely to be convinced he can coach Smith to block like Walter Jones every play, not just in spurts, and his draft status will reflect that potential of a probably Pro Bowler in two to three years. Huge challenge this week for Willie Smith going against Jared Allen who has 17.5 sacks. My prediction is he holds his own and makes believers that he's our RT of the future to replace Brown.

The Redskins have a positive nucleus on the offensive line for the future. I'm impressed with Maurice Hurt. For s seventh round draft choice, he's played well and made the most of his opportunity to play. Chester has been a mainstay and has quietly played well all season long. I'm really not that big on Polumbus or Locklear. Jamaal Brown is okay, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Redskins upgraded. Willie Smith played well against Jason Pierre-Paul last week, but Jared Allen is a different monster all together this week. The reason I feel Smith will do a great job against Allen is because he did so well against Pierre-Paul, something Trent Williams didn't do against Pierre-Paul in the opener on 9-11.
