Re: Chris Cooley Released
On the bright side this move saves us a couple of million on the cap for this year

Re: Chris Cooley Released
Hmm...I think this might be the end, unfortunately. I couldn't see the Skins releasing a franchise, all-time great for salary reasons, then bringing him back on the cheap. I have to believe they would spare him the embarrassment if it came to that.
Snyder, Allen, and Shanny are classier than that. |
Re: Chris Cooley Released
Gano who?

Re: Chris Cooley Released
I would love to see him back on the cheap but I definetly see him with his own radio show or doing some TV work in the area going forward.

Re: Chris Cooley Released
Unhappy. Not only do I love the guy, I think the Davis/Cooley 2 TE set is the strongest combination we can field (Paul is still playing like he's learning the position to me). Moreover, releasing Cooley is one thing, but couldn't they have gotten something for him by way of a trade? It's hard to believe he has no trade value -- heck, we got something (probably not much) for Kevin Barnes. I am just hoping that we didn't trade him means we're trying to find a way to get him back. Probably not going to happen.
All I hope for is that Dallas doesn't pick him up. Witten has a major spleen issue and might miss time, or hurt it again. They let their backup go to the Giants.
Hasn't Cooley talked major trash in the media about the cowboys in the past, I can't see them picking him up. Now what Jersey am I going to wear each week, he was my go to one. |

Trade value with his contract and recent injury history? That's tough. |
Re: Chris Cooley Released
No more Captain Chaos. This is.... ALMOST.... as bad as Monk leaving, Green leaving, .......... It's nice to see the team getting younger and healthier but it's also a shame to lose a face of this team.
Maybe the Texans pick him up.... he knows the system. Or better yet maybe the Patriots give him an opportunity. Closest he might come to getting a ring atleast. |

Releasing a player like Cooley rather than trying to trade him is the respectful thing to do. It allows CC to choose his next destination, rather than have it forced upon him. Sad day. |
Re: Chris Cooley Released
They tried as recently as yesterday to shop him around but couldn't find any takers.
Or so they say, it's possible they did find a taker but out of respect for Cooley didn't trade him to allow him to choose the team of his liking. Either way, been known for weeks now that his days as a Redskin were done |

Yeah sad day... I was even wearing my Cooley jersey last night at my fantasy football draft.... I didn't draft him mind you, but I did have on his jersey. |

I'm with you on this but it also boils down to his knees. How healthy is he really? He's battled the same issue's for what two yrs? three? his knees keep swelling and he keeps getting less time on the field. Announcing is the perfect gig for him. He likes the camera and atleast we can understand what he's saying vs. Randel El. sometimes Randel just mumbles words. |
Re: Chris Cooley Released
LOVE CC....hate to see him go.......
|
Re: Chris Cooley Released
While I'm sad to see this day come he can be added to the list with Clinton who took the team for granted and did not stay in shape. This is just as much Cooley's fault but I still hate to see him go.
