The team would know about the failed drug test when the NFL knew. They most likely know when a suspension is coming. Hence the team's decision to go with so many safeties.

This hurts IMO, Jackson is better than Gomes and is a true ballhawk that has a nose for the ball. I think Jackson wouldve been the starter with Merriweather im hoping someone worth picking up is cut at safety from another team.

Update: 10:56: Rookie safety Jordan Bernstine has been told that he will be on the Redskins’ season-opening roster, according to a person familiar with the situation. Bernstine was a seventh-round draft pick out of Iowa.
