Re: Tailored Dress Shirts
Panda,

Friend of mine has done some suits from Indochino. For the price, the fabric they use is top notch. However, he had to have a local tailor spend some time fixing some of the bad stitching, and fix some of his measurements (his mistake.) Their customer service is pretty damn good, you can take your suit to a tailor, have them take measurements where it's wrong, send the suit back, and they'll fix it. IF you get your measurements correct -- incredibly cheap suits that fit well. They also asked him why he hadn't ordered another suit, he said that there were too many issues with the first to make a 2nd worth it -- so they gave him a free suit to try to win him back. Not sure if he's traded it in yet.
awesome, thanks again, daseal.

Panda,

Expect to tweak every time. Once you get it close, they're fine. But they can ALWAYS BE BETTER! Glad you like them. I encourage everyone on TWP to consider the tailored shirt. Great fit, no shopping, and similar prices to off the rack.

about 1/4" added to each shoulder
about 1/4" added to each sleeve length
about 3/4" - 7/8" taken off the half hip

Re: Tailored Dress Shirts

I really need to check this out because I always have a problem with buying dress shirts. I need longer sleeves, in the 36/37 range, my neck is around 18, but my waist is only a 36. So I always end up with baggy ass shirts that just don't look right even when they are "fitted" style.

I cant believe i just read this thread, about threads.
Remember guys - you gotta wear the shirt - dont let the shirt wear you.
Peace

Ive started getting all shirts altered at a tailor. Definitely worth it for work.

Do shirts have thread counts like sheets?
Do shirts have thread counts like sheets?
i haven't seen it.

but i would like to comment on the shirt i got from modern tailor. i wore it to work for the first time today, it is the most wrinkle-prone shirt i've worn in a long time.

i had to lay down over the steaming vents on the roof every 2-3 hours to compensate

Lol. That must have been tiring. In all seriousness - my friend has a company called loggerhead apparel. They make short sleeve cotton polo type shirts. 100 % pima cotton and proceeds go to the conservation of - you guessed it - the loggerhead turtle. It was thee most comfortable well fitting shirt ive worn ina long time.
Should i start another thread about this or do you think its ok to branch out with different shirts in this thread?

Re: Tailored Dress Shirts

Panda -- the $20 dollar shirt is prone to wrinkling. Get into the better fabrics and they are much, much better especially in that department.
