Re: Jacoby Jones
I root for Banks every time he touches the ball (he's exactly my size -- 5'7", 155 -- so it's pretty much a necessity), and he's so fast, it's surprising to me he hasn't been able to break one for a TD yet. But I also hold my breath thinking that it won't take much of a whack for the ball to come loose.

Re: Jacoby Jones
I've been a huge Brandon Banks fan since he's been on the Redskins and I've argued for him and stood up for him on these boards. But I'm beginning to see what a lot of Redskins fans see and that is Banks lack of explosion. The great kickoff/punt returners we've had here in the past were explosive. Darrell Green, Brian Mitchell, Mike Nelms, Santana Moss, etc. Banks has speed but he's not explosive. His decisions to either let the ball bounce into the end zone or return it could have hurt the Redskins last Thursday. I would be more comfortable with Santana Moss returning punts.

Re: Jacoby Jones
I think just about everybody loved Banks at first. He's turned out to be nothing special, which is bad enough without his terrible decision making.
I was glad we didnt sign Jacoby,I watched a lot of Texans games and was not impressed,he was very inconsistant.I dont know what kind of receiving yr he's had,but he's def been better than Banks in the return dept |
Re: Jacoby Jones
Have we tried A. Robinson back there? Seems like he might have something to offer. Can't get any worse than Banks is doing right now. It reminds me of when Randle El was at the latter stages of returning punts. Dance - dance - down...
NO question he has the ability, but either our return team isn't giving him any holes, or he just can't make a decision....either way, something has to change. |
Re: Jacoby Jones
i think robinson and paul could handle kicks
and moss could handle punts |
Re: Jacoby Jones
had another great catch!

Re: Jacoby Jones
There was nothing spectacular about the catch. He was wide open on a blown coverage.

Oooo...somehting shiny!
Pass on Jones....a dedicated roster spot for a returner is in the twilight. |

He had to adjust to a not-so-greatly thrown ball. Honestly, if the Denver DBs cover that well, it could have been a pick. With JJ's speed (and Torrey Smith's) I don't know why the Denver DBs did such a terrible job with coverage.
Oooo...somehting shiny! Pass on Jones....a dedicated roster spot for a returner is in the twilight.
Jones actually catches the ball and contributes to the offense. With him it is not a situation where you are dedicating a roster spot for a returner. |

Nope. Not tough at all. R. Crawford/N. Paul or J. Jones? Much tougher. Jones didn't want to come here for more money than he got in Baltimore. Why is this even an issue? |

Re: Jacoby Jones
Jacoby Jones has tremendous explosion!!! What a kickoff returner.....Brandon Banks could definitely take some notes from him.

Brandon Banks is good as gone. I'll be surprised if they even bring him into training camp to compete. |
