Re: Cooley - Redskins or no one
Cooley had been working with Channel 4 on Redskins reports during the season and was pretty good at it. Hopefully he can keep doing tv because his playing days are over.

Re: Cooley - Redskins or no one
Captain Chaos was great fun to watch and a character on and off the field (Who wears short shorts?).
Hope he sticks around. Man I would LOVE if he replaced Huff. I know, I know, it's a pipe dream. |
If he'd come back for 1 year vet min... why not? He's got to be better than Niles was, and I'm sure he has some knowledge to share.
900K+ would be the vet min for Cooley. We can't afford it, nor can we spare the roster spot for a sentimental piece. |
Re: Cooley - Redskins or no one
While I still feel Cooley has a lot left to give the Redskins on the football field, it's time for him to start looking towards another career if he hasn't already. If it were another regime in Washington Cooley would still be playing but Mike Shanahan knows what's best in the the Redskins interest. It's time to move on from Cooley.

Re: Cooley - Redskins or no one
I might be in the minority here, but if he has kept in shape, I still think Cooley and Davis would be great in 2 TE setups. I'm sure he will work out for the team, I hope he finds another home in the NFL though if not here. I still think the guy has at least 2 or 3 years left. It all depends on his work ethic from this offseason. At 900k, I don't think he is that big of a deal money wise over Paul.........

Re: Cooley - Redskins or no one
I'd take Cooley over butterfingers Paul.

Re: Cooley - Redskins or no one
At best we have two TEs on the roster right now, Davis and Lunch Pail. Hopefully Davis stays healthy. I'm tired of discussing Paul as anything more than a ST player, it's ridiculous.
Regardless, I won't be surprised if Shanny drafts a TE next wknd. |

I think we all would. Niles Paul has shown and proven that he can't catch the dang football. Watching his drops is frustrating sometimes. These are passes that we all know Cooley would have easily hauled in. But Shanahan drafted Paul and moved him to TE because of his receiver like speed would be a mismatch against linebackers. So far the TE experiment concerning Niles Paul collectively hasn't worked. In time perhaps it will. |

I've been very frustrated with Niles Paul's drops, but I'm willing to give him one more year to prove that he can catch the dang ball! As far as the mismatch against the linebackers, that has worked pretty well. Paul can get open down the field, and he does have the potential to be a deep threat type of TE, but he just needs to work on his concentration. Right now, he's catching the ball like Taylor Jacobs. |
Re: Cooley - Redskins or no one
I keep pulling for Paul, but he does make it hard at times. As for Cooley, yes, he would catch the ball if he were in the same spot as Paul. The problem is that he can't get to that spot when Paul does and, by the time Cooley gets there, it's simply too late.
Loved Capt. Chaos for many, many reasons, but, in shape or not, he is done. |
Re: Cooley - Redskins or no one
I hope we bring him back for depth. Couldnt he sub in @FB as well? Joe used to start him there frequent.

Re: Cooley - Redskins or no one
CC would also be a good mentor, he deserves a shot at two winning seasons in a row after suffering so many seasons of suck.

I want Darrel Young out there every play we use a FB. He's a beast, especially when he gets the ball out in the open.
I agree. As much as I have loved #47 in the b&g, you can't play in the NFL when your 40 is timed in minutes. |
