Re: Speed!
We have loads of speedsters, and I'm liking the fact that McCants might be the "possession" receiver we all want and need. I MIGHT change my stance and say that if Williams is gone with our #1 pick that we MIGHT want to look at another position.
My point was that Morton was a great returner on the Jets and never did crap for the Skins. You can't just bring a great returner in here and think it makes you instantly have a great return game. it doesn't work that way. Moss will do a good job returning the kicks if the Redskins do as good a job of blocking for him as the Jets have done. That's my only point.
Thing is, Morton wasn't that bad. He had a kick return for a touchdown in 2003 and another return for over 40 yards. He averaged nearly ten yards a punt return, despite the fact that he rarely returned punts with the Jets. (Non-Special Teams side note: he also started two games at running back, ending with a 4.5 YPC, with 18.75% of his carries going for first downs). 2004 was disappointing, but 6 games with a new coaching staff before a season ending injury shouldn't be a career year for anyone. |
Re: Speed!
Most definitely. I keep forgetting he is ALSO coming back.

Re: Speed!
Seemed like the blocking got better later in the year....Betts even had a long return, and had it been one of the speedsters, it may have gone for a TD.
Should make for a good competition in training camp! (seems so far away right now though :() |
Re: Speed!
simon can also run and return kicks, and we resigned him.

Re: Speed!
I hate wishing time away but I'm more excited for THIS season than I was for last season.

Re: Speed!
I love the fact that they're going to try to groom McCants into a possession receiver, I just hope he can find a way to not fumble when fighting for extra yards. His hands are pretty good and he'll be fine, I also kinda think Ramsey likes throwing to him.
That said...Moss, Patten, McCants, Jacobs and Thrash should be good enough especially if the Moss extension is going to pay him like a number 1. I say we look at DE or CB in the first round. I think we should wait till the 3rd to go TE, hopefully Matt Jones will be on the board! |

Yeah, I'm kinda excited about next year, the downer is I won't be in the area for most of it. I'll be in the Nolia. |
Re: Speed!
Where's Nolia? I have to make the 3-4 hour drive to DC to make most of the games. :P I HATE that drive. It is pure hell until I start seeing all the Redskins flags on cars.

Re: Speed!
oh yeah, try dallas. its great to live in til football season. because i have to go watch the skins in texas stadium and watch us lose everytime. i actually got punched in the face once after a loss, screaming "cowgirls suck" in the halls exiting the stadium. it was hilarious, he punched me and ran like a mofo.

Re: Speed!
That's pretty typical for Cowboy's fans.

Re: Speed!
does any one know wats going to happen with chad morton? cause i know hes pretty fast too!!!!......but he plays running back.......u think they might try to deal him for a draft pick now that they have brown?
|
Re: Speed!
I think it's one of those situations that since he DIDN'T play, he may not have value to many teams. I can see him playing some next year, getting his value up, and trading him in the offseason of next year.

Right he wasn't that bad, and if we didn't overpay him to steal him away from the jets I probably wouldn't complain about him. his production does not warretn his paycheck. The Redskins have had a lot of those guys since Danny arrived though. I think it's clear that Gibbs is working on changing that. |
